Thread: Current Merchant Issues List
well the "dead" vendor issue - like i said - only effects a handful of people...i just dont think it is of general concern to most of us...i think that is better handled through customer service...especially to prevent people from getting griefed some how.
that being said.....
do these dead vendors initiate?...i mean at some point maintance has to run out and they will take damage.....do they stop working or continue to work forever?...
if that is the case then i am not going to keep paying maintance
number one is plain garbage. i am here to have fun, spending the time to get a vendor and then lose the skills is fine to me. merchants who keep the skills have advantages. but for me to totally gimp my character just to keep merchant skills ruins my game play. if that ends up being changed i'll just move on to warcraft or some other game on the horizon, its a game breaker
To me, item #3 is very important. I do run a mega mall, and with 20-30 people's vendors in there at some point they don't get stocked anymore and just take up space, or the people leave the game - but their vendors don't.
I'd like to see that one kept in the list for sure, but that's just my humble opinion...
allow merchants to create unlimited numbers of vendors to sell to characters who are looking to create a business but have no great desire to do the merchant profession. place some decay rate on the merchants, say 30 days or thereabouts, similar to the lamp/candle decay recently put out. im sure this would require a decent overhauling of the profession, but i would say that merchant the way it is now is by far the most dysfunctional profession in the game.
BTW, i have a master merchant on intrepid, and am currently 3-0-1-4 on kauri working up towards merchant.

Below is the listing I have at this point. Please give me your feedback on the list. Absent serious objection this is the list I am going to forward to the Dev team as our priorities for this quarter. The top 5 are very important as those are considered the top of our list. Below that the items are not necessarily in exact order of importance but I have tried to gauge the amount of support those ideas have in the community. This list is taken from the Top Issues List, the Issues List, the Bug List and my summary of other requests and discussions that have taken place. It isn't every idea that has been presented but it is, I think, the majority of the suggestions and issues that have a broad based support among merchants in the forum.
9New FeatureNew Structures (Malls and Shops)
The merchant tent is a wonderful structure that indicates the high likelihood that there is a merchant vendor inside. The tent however lends itself to smaller operations or specific types of markets. New structures like a small store front shop and a larger Mall like structure would enhance the merchant ability to have identifiable structures that indicate merchant vendors inside.
Now I don't know if the DEVs would serioudly listen to such a proposal, but if there was some way to give me admin access to a rentable vendor(s) then I would be just as happy.

as a 4-4-0-2 merchant I find that running a shop has it's rewards, but I also think that Merchant skill points along with politician skill points should be outside the scope of the normal skill point requirements. Skill points are hard enough to come by,and since merchant xps really doesn't take "effort" when comparing them to how other xps are obtained (you set up a few vendors and you accumulate points), I just don't see how it is detrimental to the game balance to allow all players to pursue merchant skills if they so choose, outside of their normal skill point allotment.

Another idea I would like to see implemented is the ability to double click on a registered ctrl v map vendor and have it load what it has on its vendor. This would not increase loading times for the map because the vendor would ONLY load when double clicked. This would also help with the empty vendor issue. No more travelling 6k to an empty vendor. Simply check its contents from your map. To keep things as they are now, no purchases would be allowed from the map and NO merchant XP gained from the map. It would simply be a useful tool to avoid unneccesary trips to empty vendors.
