Atemporary solution i have used for "dead vendors" is to place a backpack over the vendor saying "OUT OF STOCK". Thishelps customers avoid frustration and wasting oftime. However, a more permanant option must be available to mall owners (hopefully soon).

Itemcreator,
I agree that would be fair, but most people dump 25k or so in vendors and they last for ever. Maintenance in vendors is removable, so folks always put in months and months worth.
In reality, this issue will not be addressed anytime soon. I agree it is a pain and an eyesore, but we can't expect any relief.
First off, you have JTL and the combat revamp taking precedence, then the smuggler and squad leader revamp. Second, a mall is a creation of ours, not something the devs have programmed. There is no code that would allow what you folks want, there is no mall and special permissions that go with it.
Maybe next March we can see something done about this, but I wouldn't expect anything before then. I like the idea of the pack, or a some other item placed over the vendor.

please DEVS do something about this...there are a lot of great ideas here..surely some of them can be used....i have had an empty vendor im my tent from a player that quit his account months ago.....i would love to fire that thing right out the door..i knowa purge is comming up soon ..but we need something in place to deal with this issue ourselves.

If the player has indeed quit and the vendor is empty, a CSR can probably remove it for you.

My way of looking at it is this:
If the vendor is empty (no stock for sale and no stock in the stockroom) AND there is no maintance money in it and its on 0 condition, then the buildings owner should be given the option to remove it.
That way all the owner has lost is the vendor which they can easily replace if they have kept the skills (and to be honest, hard cheese if they havent!).
That way there should be no griefing.

Sounds like a fair way of doing it.
