No one told me I was suppose to get 31xp per hour, that is what I calculated I have been getting.
I passed onto the CSR's that I was not getting the 150 xp per vendor per hour like I was suppose to and the only response I got from them was that it was working as intended. I took a screenshot. http://plaza.ufl.edu/maarkean/csr.jpg
All vendors are initialized. I did realize that I had not paid maintence on them in awhile and recently added some. I will see if that helps shortly. I never keep up on maintance since it never seems to affect anything. They can not be repaired after damaged and they have never stopped working. Maybe they stop giving xp but I will see shortly.
Can you get me a screenshot of the original text of your ticket. The part that ilicited the "working as intended" comment in that screenshot?
I will be intersted to know if putting the maintenance helps the xp levels.

Update: seems to work now, when I had 21800 it was 5pm here (I'm from Europe), now it is midnight and I have 26900, thats somewhat how it should be, I "tapped" my vendors in the meantime 3 times with my alt. Could it be that the vendor must be at 100% to give full xp? Or is it some issue with the vendor not being loaded because nobody is around, and then not updating the xp as he should? At any case something is fishy here! Really curious how much xp I have tomorrow...

I have put up my original ticket at http://plaza.ufl.edu/maarkean/csr2.jpg
It has been about 50hrs and I have obtains 22650xp. That is roughly 453xp per hour. That needs to be divided up among customers clicking on vendors and vendors generating xp.
I now have enough to get the skill I wanted but if I ever want to switch again it will be annoyingly slow.

Are all vendors in the same house?
If not, have you entered the house with the other vendors?
Merchant XP usually only updates in rushs, only when the vendors are loaded. YOu get the XP but you'll only see it if someone actually goes into the house so the server "loads" the vendor.
At least it was that way when i still was able to gain merchant xp

I have never placed a vendor without also putting in maintenance and a placeholder item. I have also only once let a vendor become damaged, but didn't notice a loss in xp gain. The statement about merchant xp updating in a rush is correct. When I logged in a few minutes ago, I had 28k xp. I refreshed the inventory screens for six of them, and then I got the system message that I qualified for Advertising 4, 45500 xp total. You might have to coax the system to update it, but I suggest spending the money on maintenance, as well as a placeholder. I can't confirm this has an impact, but I have 10 vendors running right now, eight for xp purposes, and my xp is flowing nicely. I should fill Hiring 4 by Tuedsay morning and be able to train master.

Aside from my last login, every other time I have logged inside my shop where all my vendors are. There was never any xp rush no matter what I did. I know about the loading issue which is why I have been logging from inside my shop.

I just checked this out with my Merchant alt on Starsider...(currently working on Eff 4)...
I logged in an hour ago and had 37250 XP...
An hour later, I just checked in again and the server correctly calculated my XP at 38600...
I haven't made any sales, and doubt anyone has browsed my vendors (I'm in sort of a secluded area)...
My suggestion would be to remove and recreate your older / damaged vendors...which probably entails alot of stock rearranging...but, you never know...

I can confirm it, I wasn't paying attention untill now. I am 3-3-3-4 with 9 vendors, all fully paid maintenance, all loaded with at least 1 or more items. Generated 3150 XP over 9 hrs and have had people buying and browsing, at LEAST 7 different friends that I know browsed them.

I sponanteously received 70k of experience. And one of my vendors repaired. But another one has 50k maintance and is still not repaired. This is all very fishy.

So I guess you gain merchant xp by just having a vendor around?

It seems to work fine for me. I have been using merchant xp to grind FS senses xp. I have 12 vendors which should give 43,200 xp a day (or maybe a little less because of server down time). I go to the village every second day and turn in 80k merchant xp.
I have always kept my vendors with maintenance and always made sure there is at least one item up for sale. I would consider it an exploit not to pay maintenance and still get the benefits. So use your vendors as intended and I think you will get the intended xp too.
That being said, the response from the CSR is complete BS. He obviously didn't read what you wrote and just looked at a list of known bugs. Apparently he didn't find any known bug that seemed to fit with your description and then gave you the standard "working as intended" response.

Read the post before being a jerk off JeCy. I was not grinding it, it was simply not working like it was suppose to be working and the CSR's had brushed me off instead of helping.
And to the guy before the last jerk, thank you for your comments. Yeah that's what I figured about the CSR and the vendors. It seems they finally fixed them in the last patch though. I had always kept putting money in vendors but due to the fact it never seemed to do anything I was not religious about it like houses and harvs. They eventually deteriorated and would not repair and I became less inclined to add money since the amount I added last time was still in there. But that is fixed and I capped so I have no idea how it is working now.
It was just a stupid bug that lasted a few days and was probably a combination of several things. Thanks to all who tried to help and offered suggestions. SOme of them helped. And again to that guy, JeCy, *censored*.
