Stop me if you've heard this before....
SOE pulls 660 items across 6 vendors from the air.
Everyone goes ballistic, most threatened to unsubscribe, yadda yadda yadda... 40 page thread.
SOE officially comes forward and states "We hear you Merchants! After careful consideration we've decided to up the vendor limit to 1500 across 6 vendors!"
There was much rejoicing... the masses thank SOE profusely and get the warm fuzzy feeling that they listen to us and care about us.
How long will it take for you to realize that you got 'sneak poked'? And not even a kiss.
This is too scary now that I'm reading it and not thinking about it.

In all of this mass hysteria, I wonder if an underlying issue is being missed though. Since day one of "game-on" there have been all sort offlavors of problems relating to what I, and am sure many others believe, is a very poorly coded database. Everything from vendors, items, inventory, houses, bazaar, etc etc...anything that relies on the database that SWG runs on top of has been affected.
Am I the only one that finds it a very strange coincidence that shortly after TH's GREAT CHARACTER WIPE announcement that this merchant nerf is happening? All this tells me is that the devs are scrambling around trying to free up the load ona database that is on the edge of imploding. The character wipe along with this patch would serve to free up database space for new players with the launch of JTL. I think the devs have given up (or have been told to do so by a higher power) on trying to fix the database problem.
I've said this in other posts, but SOE, like most businesses, is all about making money. The game, as it stands, even with the insanity of thing that most of us have gone through in the last year, has been profitable for SOE. They gain noprofit by providing a more stable database to the players, and with the launch of JTL around the corner (a new source of profit for SOE) the devs focus has been turned from SWG.
I really don't think we'll ever see the database issues get resolved until SWG2 or something!
Either way...Low ball carousel or underlying problems, we're all being taken advantage of.

We only have one skill..the ability to sell items on vendors ....The limitation of that skill does not enhance anyones game play.
