Excellent work by Pyrocantha and the rest. Look at the one critical assumption, the rate of sales. This is what concerns me, it removes any balance from sales of products. Those products that sell quickly benefit from the Dev's proposed scheme, those that sell slowly are hurt. This will lead to a disappearance of slow selling products from vendors. As said ...
If we translate "products" into professions we can really see the hit that architects and droid engineers(?) are going to take. So the proposed changes go much farther than "balancing" the merchant profession and really affects the balance in the crafting professions as well.
The proposed change im maintenance fees basically tells some crafting professions taht the only way you can sell products is to run around town chat spamming for sales or develop some complicated system of selling chits for 1 credit on the bazaar that entitles the holder to buy a high-ticket item at a fixed price. No reasonable merchant is going to handle sales for those professions that can't offer products that generate quick sales.
