Well, Architects know that harvestors don't sell till that SUPER resource hits. That's the SWG market. Very few things are actually purchased with a long-term goal in main, AFAIC.

I have to agree with vendor purge..
Let items stay on personal vendors as long as you want, but limit vendor maint to say 90 days, if someone leaves the game and abandons their vendors, then after 90 days a email is sent, if maint is still not paid within a certain period the vendor poofs along with everything in it.
If your a good merchant and something isn't selling you will lower the price, maybe a reset price button that allows you to set prices for same type items all at once, without having to take them off and put them back on vendor, that will take away the total headache of taking each item off individually and repricing them, and would cause more merchants to constantly reprice stock without the pain staking way it's done now.

So you would rather lose all your stuff permanently (because you misjudged your maintenance window?) rather than relist everything every month with oh lets say 2-3 clicks?

Doc's right. The problem with relisting isn't that we have to do it. THe problem is that it's so frickin' tedious and carpal tunnel causing. It's a pain. It's not a problem with the profession, but with the UI of vendors. We need, and have always needed a more streamlined and engaging UI, as well as a wider range of funcitonality.

what about implementing a check system .. check items individually for restocking at original price/description, or have one that "selects all" .. hit restock boom. this way if you have one item at the top of the page you want to restock but the next 3 you dont, then 10 you do, then 25 you dont, ect ... you can manually check the items you want to restock rather than having to highlight several times.

This system is in place to discourage people from using vendors as storage so they can set up a vendor and store thousands of items in one small house with no intention of ever selling anything. A lot of players still do this (specifically pilots), but the first time they lose 100 nice pieces of loot because they forgot to relist them it grinds them to a halt very quickly (and this will happen as people who are not actually selling stuff on their vendors tend to pay little attention to them).

Does it make a merchants life much harder than it has to be? Yes.

Will it ever be changed? Probably not.

I was all ready to share the angst of the vendors rotating into the wall when they bark, until I actually read what this was about.

As Doc pointed out, the expiring items "feature" of our vendors is a necessary part of the system. A restock button would take the pain away almost completely.

under your reasonings, implementing a "restock" button of some sort would not effect the system in any negative way. if they are so disinterested in their vendors that they dont take the time to restock, then implementing a restock button would not encourage them to use the restock button, only be a very needed tool to merchants who actually do pay attention to their vendors. a restock button would eliviate several hours of tedious restock and allow that time to be spent more towards the actual merchant portion of the profession rather than using that time to be nothing but a mere stock person. the system the way that it is now is extremely frustrating. i for one can tell you that because the system is the way it is right now, i do not keep my "clothing and jewelry' vendor stocked the way that i would like to, as tailored items are a fickle selling thing. there are litterally at least a thousand combinations of items we can make between style and as many as 4 color pallets to an item (most only have 1 or 2 but there are a few that have 3 and 4 options for color pallets). of it were not for the fact that items keep purging and i have to restock every single one individually, i would much rather be able to stock my clothing vendor to more customer friendly specifications.

honestly, if im going to use my vendor for storage purposes, i would put items inside neatly labled packs. and not very many ppl are willing to give up the skill points for serious merchant skills just for storage purposes. however, when merchants are actually selling items they must put them in as a single item. so who is out more time? the person who is using the vendor for storage who has a maximum of 80 packs that all come off at once (4k items separated into 80 packs that hold 50 items each) ... or the tailor who has 2k individual items purge all at once? If someone is going to abuse the vendor system as a storage room, they are going to abuse the vendor as a storage room. No matter what is done to prevent this, there is NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS. No matter what system is implemented to deter the storage abuse, ppl will still do it because it is a lot simpler to give up 29 skill points and gain 150 item storage.

I don't know that anyone has said that we can't have a quicker way to restock. The question was why do we have to restock. The answer is so your stuff doesn't stay around forever. It either sells or you have to deal with the hassle of restocking it. I don't think that precludes making it less painful, it just precluded doing away with restocking completely.

Restocking lets me know if I have to lower my price or increase awareness of my product. Its nice to have, I'll admit, but he's right...it doesn't need to be a pain in the

The politician idea for their profession not costing skill points was implimented quickly. Do we have an ETA on a restock button?

I have thousands of specialty items on my vendors. Sometimes, the call for my items is slow, and weekly I restock 300 to 700 items. This gets old.

People who are using vendors for storage will use vendors for storage under this system or another. Doesn't seem fair to punish everyone for a few bad apples...
