I believe one of the things listed with those changes is that coverts can take advantage of faction perks without opening themselves to PvP. Could non-combatants not simply drag an AT-ST around with them now? (Not rebels of course but /shrug)

Ahh you mean get faction support. Yes such a thing is possible. You would have to get the required faction points but you could buy those as well as make them through combat. That might work. Having some hired help tagging along might even be RPish for merchants.

I have to say, I think that this new twist will do wonders for immersion. Yes, some of us will have to make some adjustments and hard choices, but the game as a whole will hopefully be a LOT more fun for a lot of people.

I saw the example of the bookstore guy in PAtriot Games used as an example. Well, yes, he was "discretely" supporting the terrorists, but the opposite faction was on his tail. The only reason why they didnt shoot on sight is because they wanted to use him to get to the guys that mattered. We cant do that in SWG. But the fact is, the Cops were aggro'd to him, heheh. They just showed some restraint an AI cant.

This might actually help to inject some life in to player cities too. If its too dangerous to transact biz in an NPC city, people can start to meet in fortified Player Cities.

Crafters do have decay on resources. As we use it it GOES AWAY. And when it's gone, we have to get more. - Elekae

I'm not concerned about this overmuch.

Since my crafter/merchant can survive in the village during phase 4 I am sure he will also survive in imperial-infested cities. Yeah, he's rebel, how did you guess?

And when I'll want it easy I'm just going to go "on leave".
