Thread: Galactic Auctions: A Detailed proposal

I still feel this would be a great way to drain a chunk of the economys money from the top end of things.
Considering the Devs have told us that the economy is in deflation, we dont need any more sinks.
You could also have within the auction houses, have a non-live version, more along the lines of what you proposed, but it would be limited to that auction house. And it would be more for the mid-grade items that might do okay in a slow bidding war, but not as great in the fast paced fun fest of a live auction.
Anyways. very cool ideas
Number of days (up to 7)
Choice of This Town, This Planet, or This Galaxy.
Buyout Price: Yes/No & amount for yes
Starting Bid
[edit: added] A Title (Because "clothing attachment", "crystal", and "pearl" is never enough, we need to be able to highlight the features in our own words in a short title)
Person with no merchant skills:
This Town:
20%
This Planet:
40%
Entire Galaxy:
60%
[edited] Having progressivly higher Efficiency boxes will decrease the percent down to the master box, which is as follows:
Master Merchant:
This Town:
4%
This Planet:
8%
Entire Galaxy:
12%
This percentage is taken out of the amount paid to the auctioneer upon completion of the sale.
- non-Merchant - 30% of starting bid is "Listing Fee"(non-refundable) - 30% of final sale is taken as a "Sales Fee" - This would allow non-Merchants to sell on teh galactic auction, but but hurt their wallets by selling themselves... I'm sure a few would list items for a low starting bid to avoid the up-front cost, but he final sale will till hurt... The initial listing fee will avoid the people putting items up at outrageous pices to advertise without an actual sale occuring...
- Novice Merchant - 20%"Listing Fee"(refundable ony if the item sells) - 20%"Sales Fee" - This allowsa Merchant the advantage of listing something overpriced for purely advertising purposes at only a 20% cost to them. This also allows the Merchants to recoup their listing fee if the item sells, ths reducing their cost to sell even further...
- Master Merchant - 10%"Listing Fee"(refundable ony if the item sells) - 10%"Sales Fee" - Cost reductions again, but on a more extreme level compared to non-Master Merchants...
11) The number of allowed auctions are as follows:
Person with no merchant skills:
3 auctions at a time
[edited] Having progressivly higher Efficiency boxes will increase the number up to the master box, which is as follows:
Master Merchant:
20 auctions at a time
Way too many auctions on both aspects... I think it best to see three level here again:
- non-Merchant - 1 auction at a time, period...
- Novice Merchant - 3 auctions at a time
- Master Merchant - 10 auctions at a time
We could alternately do it similar to the # of vendors and add "+1auction" skill at varying spots in the Merchant tree:
- All characters regardless of profession get +1 auction
- Artisan - Business 4 gets +1 auction
- Novice Merchant gets +1 auction
- Merchant - Eff 4 gets +1 auction
- Merchant - Hiring 4 gets +1 auction
- Merchant - Management 4 gets +1 auction
- Merchant - Ad 4 gets +2 auctions
- Master Merchant gets +2 auctions
This alternative gives non-Master Merchants the possibility to run more auctions than Novice Merchant, but the best option for those wanting to be "Auctioneers" would be Master Merchant... Also gives non-Merchants who want a vendor moreincentive to pick up Business line in Artisanto get a vendor and an extra auction...
14) Auctions won must be picked up in the town in which they are posted.
Change this to "Auctions won must be picked up at a Bazaar Terminal in thetown in which they are posted or the vendor from which they were listed, whichever applies."

With all the above changes to your proposal, you could drop numbers 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17 from it as they are obsoleted by the above changes...
Just my two cents worth of suggestions... ^_^
