To me it appears Cosno posted his opinions constructively. You are the one that went with all the red and yello colors in large fonts and even tacked the fact on you were being rude to him.
It appears you are the one seeking a fight over this topic with him. Yeah to Cosno for being big enough not to let you bait him into a flame war.

Yes the advertising branch is devalued, but was the branch of any value before? My opinion is no, it was not.
Global advertising only worked if the vendor had loaded from someone walking into the house/tent (or did thye fix that). Even then, you really had to guess blindly if the merchant listed in a category actually had what you are looking for. It was no better then wondering from town to town checking every tent and anything suggesting it might have a merchant in it. In fact, that is the way I found anygood shops (they where not listed).
Merchant barking while slightly less annoying then SPAMing AFK players, but also no more effective. The only reason I even keep the branch is so I can use merchant barking effect for RP purposes.
I say, come up with something new to put into this branch. Maybe the developers already have something in the works. Maybe something like a warehouse that allows increased storage as you go up the branch. I know I would love that.
Of course, I am benefiting greatly from the change, so my viewpoint is rather tainted.

I'd have to disagree, I used the global advertising a great deal when searching for other people's vendors. Some people even used to reference other crafters via the global advertising map. The problem at the time was that I had a harder time finding people who didn't advertise.

Dropping it would mean dropping Master Merchant - which would mean a loss of 1000 items that can be on the vendor.

Depends on if you like the master merchant discount and the number of vendors and total item count. The global advertising is less effective now.
Btw with the harvesting droids, that was quite a bit of cut in to the ranger/scout professions. It's proper that they withdrew from messing with those professions.
