I like this idea!

A type of workaround within the current game mechanics (in case the devs snuff this idea ) would be to add customers (from your sale complete e-mails) to your friend list with a "customer" tag. Then you could ctrl-click all tagged customers to send out specials or restock notices.

Of course it would be easier to have a system in place so the devs could show us merchants a little love...

Bump becauseI have another Idea I'd like to add.

Having the NPC vendors bark thier ads when a person enters the building makes it spam hell when aperson walks into a mall. The shopper ignores all the spam, especially since it scrolls up so fast if there is alot of ad barking vendors in the mall.

Instead of this, have the NPC vendorsend apersonal /tell to the shopper only upon actual use of that vendor. Make sure that it'sa /tell that isn't repliable to.

For example./tell shopper Welcome to mySoandSo vendor. I carry many power ups, resources and stuff. Please take alook at the recent batch of ironI bargined for a made a good deal on.

Could even have a thank you for shopping /tell bark if that wouldn't be too much. This would make them more personalized. More of an actual skill to use and something that could be changed daily or weekly. Saying that they are going out of business on 1/1/01, or that they are having a sale on Saturday or to hawk their recent purchase or item that they want to sell.

Please help make merchant a true skill!!

I think it would be helpful but like Doc said, highly underused. People don't read anything.

What if you could create a distribution list yourself on your SWG client and add names too it? So you could create "WeaponsCustomers" and add my name to it when I purchased something or when I sent you and emails requesting to be on the list (in response to an adbark or a sign in your shop) This would allow you to manage your own mailing list and it wouldn't involve a lot of complicated add/remove code for the devs which would take a while to get done if it wasn't completely out of the question.

The distribution list idea takes a lot less code ( I suspect) and would give you what you really need faster than other more complicated ideas.

You can sort of do this already can't you?

You can group the friends list. So I guess you could add a group called "Customer List" say and add your customers to it. Sort by group, select everyone in your list group and hit mail.

Last I tried this it seemed a little buggy though and it's not a very elegant solution (especially if you have lots of customers). Of course some merchants already do this just by pasting a list into the email window.

But it does seem to me that it wouldn't be very difficult to implement something like this on the client.

Also, I remember the PA correspondent pointing out the fact that you can email everyone in a guild easily by mailing to some special address. Perhaps something similar could be done for merchants.

You can group people in your friends list but you can't sent them an email all at once like that without highlighting them etc. The distribution list would be an extension of that idea that allowed you to send an email to everyone in Group: WAH wthout searching and highlighting them.

I tried keeping customers on my friends list. edited each one so that they had a lil - Customer tag, and so that i didn't see them bopping on and offline. After the umpteenth time my friends list broke and reset all that data i finally gave up.
