now don't get me wrong, I do FS myself as a master tailor/merchant... however, I don't complain about spending 15 bucks on it. if you don't like what you're paying for, do something else (like combat?)

I was responding to the person that suggested that I simply sit at the village if I don't like the drive. That would be a waste of my $15 a month. I have already ground Jedi via combat with my other account and also grinded him through jedi he is now fully templated. What I merly want here is to be on the same footing with the combat guys as far as the cap goes. What is so bad about that? A relist button would be nice however getting a cap change is more likely to happen as all they have to do is go into the code and change =80k to =900k not sure what language they use but it should be that simple on all of the caps. In addition my wife started grinding her combat character so she could pick up the 2nd player slot. It took her rougly 2 weeks to catch up to what it had taken me 5 month of crafting to do. Now granted I have done no crafting with the intention of "grinding FS" I have merely maintainted my business. However the speed that she caught up to me in and has now left me in the dust shows the imbalance.

The imbalance should be delt with one of the first steps would be to raise the merchant xp cap to 800k or 900k. Our corespondent has listed this as merchant issue #17! Perhaps we can get it moved up on the list if enough people show concern about it?

well, issues aren't fixed the moment corrs bring them up, and I remember the 80k cap being brought up many times to the devs. it's an easy issue to fix, however this doesn't affect as many merchants as, say, the relist button issue. your most important issue isn't the same as everyone else's.

yes, FS grind is much easier on the combat players. for me to get FS, it'll take roughly a year to finish the senses boxes... and however much time it take for me to get my behind moving to get the two crafting lines. regular restock doesn't generate that much xp compared to a regular hunt session. crafting will never be equal with combat when it comes to this kind of content... sad but true

What's the force xp conversion rate on Merchant anyways? Maybe upping the cap and adjusting the conversion rate or something?

Merchant XP caps at 80k and has a 4:1 conversion

The conversion rate is in line with most other non-combat rates (but that's a different issue).
The low cap and your inability to significantly influence your rate of xp gain are the biggest issues.

With combat conversion, you are rewarded for how hard you work to earn xp.
With merchant conversion, tho, you can't do anything but sit back and wait.
That wouldn't be such a bad thing since you earn it 24/7, however the low cap forces you to make more frequent conversions or else you end up missing out on xp.

Thats my main issue with the cap. Combat guys with just one combat skill + generic combat experience can convert 80k per trip. If they are a scout they can add in another 9375 FS for sences. Having such a low merchant cap forces you to go to the village before you have maxxed out your crafting totals making for many more trips.

These trips if you are 100% crafter can be rather dangerous if you run across to many rhoa kwi. I don't have a problem at all with the rate we can gainit which with 12 vendors running would be a max of 1440 Merchant per hour. Of course that amount will go up for every shopper that refreshes your vendors, but a average level 80 combat guy can kill but one level 80 creature every 3 hours to equal that. So I'm thinking the rate of gain would not imbalance the game if the cap was increased. It would just make life a little easier on us crafters grinding FS.

It's actually worse than that.
With my combat character, I could easily earn 370k FS XP (yes, three hundred seventy thousand FS) per trip making the same once-daily trip.

I earned 2 complete FS branches in just under a week (and that was post-CU and without double xp).

There's no risk with getting Merchant XP, and it does roll in while we're logged out, but it's measly in comparison to combat XP. And there is still a lot of work involved--heck, just restocking is a lot of time for an activeMaster Merchant! But hour for hour, combat is more efficient in XP gain. Especially since I can switch between three weapons and take my time capping them (or hunt avidly for an evening and cap all three).

I have a solution.

Nerf jedi.

The rest of the classes will get lovin', SOE can cut their csrs in half because of the large reduction in tickets, the search in the forums will work because of the jedi forum going away and cats and dogs will live in harmony.
