Thread: Master Merchant-How long did it take you?

Really odd. I did merchant by grinding up to the max vendors first. I also did NOT charge anything at the door and I got Master Merchant in one week. I must of just been in a great spot with my vendors because it didn't take long at all. But this was in the first month of the game so things might have changed.

Well i hate to flame anyone but how i saw the entrance fee thing still working is when i visited Wildfires house searching for weps,

thehouse next to the vendor for weps.. said something like smugglers hideout for something to that extent.. it had a long number not the old 9999999 time limit thing but it kicked me from the house about 2 sec after i was in.. this was pre the other nights patch. so not sure if its still up..

workin on it now for 1 week or so an i am 2-1-0-4, i got 1 house an 6 venders get about 21k xp from the venders everday an i am bored out of my mind waitin to master it.

Icalculated that once i got to mangment 4 an wit max venders would take about 14-15 days to get get master wit no one going into my shop.

I am having fun makin the venders say stuff like, hey u... yea u .. nevermind.

'My buddy , my buddy wherever i go he gose, my buddy , my buddy, if u run i am gonna stick him out the window, My buddy! "G-Unit"

It didn't take me long, a few weeks, and that was during the time that vendors weren't giving XP unless someone was in your shop.

I did it by using teasers to get people into my shop. I was a novice droid engineer at the time and was tired of grinding MSEs, Tredwells and R5s just to get to a point that I could build decent droids. I decided rather than throw them away I'd use them as bait. I'd grind a bunch of droids then throw them on my vendor for 1cr each and Ihad a 1cr access fee on the house. I also put batteries on my vendor which I sold for full price. That kept me solvent. It's the classic tactic, give away the razor and sell the blades for a fortune.

So I killed several birds with one stone. Got droid experience, made some money, and mastered merchant.

Also it did help that I had a good location. My shop is just west of Anchorhead, and there was a town just starting to grow right next to me, so I had a lot of traffic. So like they say in real estate: Location, location, location.

I never "ground" merchant. I do not know how long it took, as it was not really of any interest to me how "fast" I could get it. I got the exp naturally, as it was intended, doing business as usual, long before the Holo idiocy existed.

This is how I play all my professions. Doing things at the intended pace has the added benefit of NEVER having to beg for AXP - I have always got all the AXP I needed from people who ask ME to train them, well in advance of needing it to "buy" master.

If something can be gained easily, it has no value. I'd be happier if this game had no macroing, no grinding, no easy bypassing of actually doing the work the way it was obviously intended. But its a lost cause.

The whole holo business has already ruined what little respect was for the work involved in mastering a profession, and people using illegal 3rd party macroing tools has reduced that work to nothing anyway.

I can't do anything about it. But I can loathe them.

And don't insult professions by posting about hologrinding on their boards please. AFAIK all of them have made holo FAQ's to avoid this.

merchant profession leveling scheme sucks, hardcore. Talk about lack of any real common sense.

It took me 27 days with lots of spam advertising at cornet starport. I made a couple of million doing it too. The problem is now that I am not spamming my buisness has declined 75%. I still have the same wares at cheaper prices but since I am not AFK advertsining I get almost no buisness.

"My alt got Master Merchant for his holocon, so I started mid-afternoon last Saturday. Set up 10 houses with access fees (1cr/15 minutes) and created vendors as I got the skills that gave me more. Whenwe can, myself and a friend run through all the houses. We also ping a vendor every 10 minutes to get the 50 xp for browsing." by Qyd

Cant you only put access fees on your declared house...which u only have one of?...correct me if im wrong please...

It surprises me that people with an intelligence level like yours actually manage to survive. Crawl back under your rock now, little troll wannabe.
