I love that suggested skill tree. The merchant skill tree is by far the weakest in SWG and it could use some reorganization. I too think that travel cost reduction would be a great benefit to us and would help implement the glalactic commerce that the devs want to accomplish. I could defnitely see a booming import export business if it was cost effective to do it.

I agree, tie the number of items to be sold to the level of the Merchant. Make the item limit on the personal vendor at the pre-Novice Merchant level (Artisan Tree) very small like 25-30ish same as the bazaar. This gives the crafter more incentive to hire a merchant to help sell their items.

I like it alot, but I seriously doubt anything will happen. I saw at Novice Merchant you get reduced Vendor Fees (to the normal amount) and at Artisan Business IV they can hire 1 vendor but high fees. That way its not pointless to go to the Merchant Profession to sell stuff.

Good Post and a lot I agree with.

FYI -- you can remotely manage vendors now -- and I would prefer that stay at Novice merchant.

Basically, that is what you use the "Galaxy, Planetary, Regional, and Vendor" radio buttons for.

I also like the auto-restock, but I am not so sure how easy that would be to implement. The reason why, is that I, and other merchants I know, vary price on items depending on stats of the item. That would be a difficult thing to reliably automate. However, it would be great with the consumables I sell since they have a consistent price and need to be restocked often.

Two things on my wishlist:

  • Remotely unpack containers in the stockroom: I have many people sell me crates, or post a bunch of powerups in a travel pack. A typical session for me is I go to my closest vendor, bring up offers, click planetary, accept/reject offers. Then I go to stockroom, click planetary and post. However, I cannot remotely post items in crates and travel packs. I have to physically go to that store and retrieve (what makes it harder is that the main store that people drop off at is the most bugged -- I cannot retrieve ANYTHING from the stockroom).
  • Support commision sales:I have an arrangement with my best suppliers where they offer their items to me at 1cr, and they email me a price sheet. I post on my vendors according to the price sheet. Each session, I tally up what sold, and email an IOU to my suppliers. The next time they offer something, one of the items will be offered at the IOU amount. Tallying up is a very time consumign process. I would LOVE to be able to "commision" post where I designate a percentage cut, and person who gets the cut and then not bother with all the talying up.

Reduced travel costs would absolutely be a great perk. Perhaps make an option to buy tickets in bulk? I know I travel between Tatooine and Corellia everyday, if not severals times. The problem here of course is they have to make the tickets usuable by the buyer only, or you'd get people sitting around the terminals making a profit being the middle-man. Wait..would that be such a bad thing? hehe

Being able to sell things for over 3K on the bazaar would be a great option too. Just stick that in with the reduced costs bonus.

Another thing that would becool would be the ability to place a small "ATM" machine in your house. They wouldn't be able to access their stored items, but they could grab some cash if they needed it, and not have to pay the 5% bank to bank transfer. Heck, let us put a 1% surcharge on the use of the terminal. We'd make a little money off it, and they save money too!

Make premium auctions stand out, like they should.

Heck, I'd be happy if the only thing they did was let us yank power out of harvesters before we pull them.
