50 items in the pack plus the pack = 51

Storing that many items in a pack is inconvenient, tho.
You pretty much have to put down everything you're carrying just to retrieve one item from the pack.
While this won't stop vendors being used to store items, it will very likely lower the numbers significantly.

Just stating a point. theres ways to use this as storage just think about it more man i love it now before i never used them as storage becuse i though somthing like this might happen. Now that they have set the rules down i just might start using them as storage heck im sick of paying for 3 factorys full of stuff when i can pay 9c a hr for 1 vendor to do the same thing at 9999999. beh how did this fix SOE's problem though?
You shouldve I quickly ran out of room in like week 7 or 8 didnt know what to do had to get another house. Then I seen someone using a vendor as storage, Im like how briliant, but then I heard rumurs the DEVs were onto this "trick" and were going to make an anouncement and wipe them all out so I set up a small vendor in the basement and risked placing a few grind resources in there and got up every morning and checked the forrums. And the day came the verdict from the DEVs (it was some time ago so cant quote it but went something like this)
We know the current storage system for housing is inadicuate for most profesions so using vendors has been deemed an ACCEPTABLE work around. This not only solves the storage issue but should also decrease lag issues when entering a building because the vendor is the only thing that loads besides the furniture and not all the other stuff that is being placed. It should also reduce the need for players needing more than 1 or to houses. This may change in the future when we can take storage issue on and create a better alternative.
And as you can clearly see this is still the case. This was never about the issue of vendors for storage a full pack was going to still act as 1 Item. This was simply a way to place a cap on the data base its hard to forcast how much storage will be needed when there is no cap. And with the huge influx of new accts sure to come with JTL it was a nightmare waiting to happen. Storage is dirt cheap especaily now so 153K of item storage isnt a huge deal, but it gives them a cap to work with and I dought anyone would be able to reach that limit nor would want to LOL.

I agree that something needs to be done about the use of vendors as storage.
I know I'll get flamed, but I agree. However, before I put on my suit, I'll explain:
I DO agree that the real problem, is that SOE has not given us valid decent storage capabilities. I'd love to see Master Merchants given the ability to convert 1 of their vendors to a high limit storage, and give everyone the ability to have a "bank" type system in their houses. Even just an additional 100 items per house would be great. Something needs to be done to provide people with a way to store say, resources, without having to turn to misusing vendors and factories.
Since we don't have that ability, I don't post rampages demanding that there be a monetary cap on vendors, which would in fact stop the "storage vendor" from seeing the light of day. Of course you have the right to use your vendors as you see fit, provided SOE agrees with you. As such, I have not seen any official post stating that you are not allowed to use them as storage. So, there's not really a battle to fight.
However, as a consumer myself at times, nothing...and I mean nothing, is more annoying than seeing a vendor on the planetary map that says "Resources", pay the entry fee, go inside and open the vendor to find 150 backpacks priced at 9999999999, and not one single resource for actual sale. Or, they'll be 4 units of steel on there. That drives me insane! If I see that, I refuse to shop there ever again. It's poor business.
Mind you, I'm not attacking anyone who uses vendors for storage currently. All I'm saying is, I'd really like SOE to come up with an alternative to it, so people aren't forced into it. Believe me, I have a TON of stuff. I don't use my vendors as storage, and I don't use my factories as storage. It's not a principal thing either. It's simply because, my luck, I'd store stuff on either, and my stuff would poof. SOE would then respond with "Well, you weren't supposed to be using them that way, so we won't replace it." And well, they'd be right. I personally don't want to run that risk. So, I have to be careful and picky about what I *need* to keep, and what can be given away or trashed.
So, until we can all have valid storage, all I ask is that you use some courtesy. If you have a vendor with tons of backpack storage on it, be smart about it. Combine vendors to actually sell things, and make your storage one seperate and in another room. And for goodness sakes, don't put it on the Map.

DarkJedi,
(I know Hero is part of your name but really it's the bounty hunters who are my heroes...I hope you don't take offense.)
I think that vendors are supposed to be used to sell items, not to STORE them. To use vendors as storage by intentionally overpricing items is in my opinion not an intended functionality. This is why I would like to see an upper limit of 9M or perhaps less on the contents of any container COUPLED WITH the ability of other people to look inside this container.
It wouldn't prevent you from storing a bunch of garbage. But you wouldn't want to put a bunch of good resources up in an container for your competitors to go by. Now would you?
I think that vendors are supposed to be used to sell things. Intentionally overpricing items into the realm of unreason isn't using vendors to sell things.
I think it is the devs who don't want vendors used as storage. Or so I have heard second or third hand. Ask not who am I to care...ask who are they. I'm watching to see whether they do anything to interfere with using vendors as storage. Maybe they won't.
Are you that naive?
Make my crafting house private drop vendor store items on it for any price I want because I'm the onlyone with access to house.

You can't create a vendor in a house that is declared private. You can't declare it private if there are already vendors in it either.
OK guees I'm naive but never tried to make a storage vendor have all 6 of my vendors in mall and my house tryin to sell things. I have less then (or about) 200 resource types so not out of storage yet but wish I could stack above the 100k limit, I have 600k + of Ehaopove duralloy steel and that is 7 stacks.

Huh? You can't drop a vendor in a private house :-) ...
