I never even look at the list, I just look at the tags on the map and pick the one that is closest to me.

I certainly don't want another gold or time sink involved in keeping my shop running, so re-listing my shop is not something I want to do... even if it is only once a week.

I think I probably get more business from the tag displaying on the over-lay (ctrl-m) map and people seeing it as they are running by than I do from the planetary map (which I've found the majority of players don't even know how to use)

They could haveeach Master merchant gets added to a que and when their turn comes up, their store is featured on a loading screen. Knowing my luck, I would see my own store.

I'm not sure how hard this would be to program, but it doesn't strike me as that hard. Why don't they sort vendors by proximity? So the closest one to you would be at the top of the list, the farthest at the bottom. That way, when there's 20 clothing vendors, or 40, you don't have to click through each one to see which is next door, and which is across the planet. You could argue that people who set up shop closest to cities will always be listed first, so they'd have an advantage. Well, they should, it's all about location, location, location.

Am I the only one who clicks the pin closest to meon the map rather than clicking each name on the list to see where the shop is?

Daxl... are you completely insane or just nuts? Since you're listed as a bounty hunter, I think all the money sinks should come from your profession. Every time someone does a BH mission, 75% of the list reward for the mission should come out as 'sin tax'. Since killing people is considered a sin, I think you should pay for the right to do so.

Quit trying to use the merchants as the money sink, if anything, we should be the ones getting a break from having all our money sucked away, as we already have to use valuable skill points to advance.

Bah, whoever registered first should be on top and work it down. Give those guys some credit who got there first.

As long as they fix the bug so I don't have to re-register my vendor on the map EVERY STINKING DAY I don't really care HOW they list them.

Sir, it's quite possible that this game is not entirely stable.

"Not entirely stable." Well, I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie! Take the professor in the back and plug him into the patch server!

I hate re-listing my vendor every day too but it there is one advantage tothe current system that nobody has mentioned yet.

There are a lot of dead (empty and/or inactive) vendors in the galaxy. Without some automatic method to remove those vendors from the list, the mapwould contain a lot of vendor listings that aren't really active any more. Imagine how much the shoppers would hate traveling all the way to a vendor, just to discover it's not stocked anymore! Two or threeexperiences like that, and players would quit using the vendor map entirely, and just make cheap purchases from the bazaar.

Daily re-listing is very annoying, but it does guarantee that the only vendors listed are the ones with active merchants (who log in daily) standing behind them. That gives the customers confidence that if they travel all the way to a vendor, they will find an open store.

There are other ways the devs could solve that problem of course - methods other than making us all log in every morning! But the obvious answer that you guys are discussing (making all the listings permanent) would not be good for the Merchant profession.

The only way to fix planetary advertising fairly is to JUST FIX IT!!! IT already cost us more, the **edit** thing is just broken. List the shops any **edit** way you chose to. Closest to your vicinity would be best as that is the one most people try first anyway.

Just fix it. Fix everything. FIX IT!

Being on the top of the list doesn't matter to me I always look for a vendor on the map closest to town I'm at.....like on one of the posts above, the top person on the list maybe 6000m away and the bottom only 1000m which one am I walking to?

I don't know, I think I agree with Daxl...partially.

I like the idea of paying for ad space and it being for a period of time, especially for some of the other reasons listed (dead vendors on the map being thebiggest). I think they should make the Merchant class useful by removing large Vendor fees for merchant class (i.e. really make the efficiency line meaningful) and replacing that money sink with the option of spending on advertising. Merchants in real life spend far more on advertising than paying someteenager (or putting in a vending machine) to sell the stuff.
