Thread: How do you get your coustomers?
Given I plan to have two stores in the not to distant future, this will become a critical feature.

Heh, never knew you got Merchant XP for Access Fees....with a 1cr access fee, most people will pay that. Thanks for the tips everyone! ![]()

If you charge an access fee, do you get any notification when someone pays it ? I was thinking of implementing a 1 credit access fee just so I could keep track of who visits my store so I can follow up with them and see if they got what they were looking for.

I have to agree, the yelling in high traffic areas has worked great for me as well. I haven't tried the charging a 1 credit admission fee though, I was think that that might make some people less than happy.

If you are looking for customers, why not go where the customers go? I tend to find mine by going to mission terminals and telling them I sell couplers. Perhaps I'll sell a couple to them on the spot, and then send them an email with coordinates to my shop. After you run a mission or two, where are people going to end up? The canina and the med center! Walk up to the people watching the show, send them a /tell rather than saying outloud as to not interupt the show, and ask them how much damage their weapon does or if they could use a backpack. In the med center, doctors may be interested in those medical droids you make. Another good way is to use the community search screen. You can search for people in different professions, and then you can drop them emails. Granted, this is a little scary, because it feels like spam, but you never know! Someone may want what you are selling in this case.
2. I hang around Bestine doing some informal sales patter through /yell with the coords for the store, and send waypoints to anyone who asks.
3. I do "weapons education seminars" so that the n00bs understand that an E11 carbine may actually suck worse than a well-made DH17, and so on. I look at people's weapons and tell them if they're good ones or not.
4. I undercut the guys who are just grinding their way up so fast that they're not using good materials and just relying on selling the first SG82 or what have you. There's three or four weaponsmiths on my server who are not only way ahead of me but make really really good weapons, and I sometimes send people to them, while also mentioning my own store.

Mt trick is to sell some basic items, like spiced tea and bofa Treats for like 25 credits on bazaar. in the item description box I give directions and coordinates to my shop. The yelling thing has worked wonders. Something else to think about, I charge a 1cr access fee, you get xp for doing this. I ran through Novice Merchant and Advertising 1 in about 24 hour period.
on the access fee, does a window pop up asking the person if they want to pay>
Yes a message will pop up to the person entering the building.
I have moved my house to a new location, near bestine and my traffic has gone up by 500% I have been gaining merchant exp inthe range of 15K points per day, points gained from people entering your house = 50 points, people paying for entrance fee = 50 points, dont know what I get for people who purchace from my vendors though.
Bestine seems to be a good location, its a small town with easy mission locations, making it a big hangout, one drawback for thoes looking to join factions Bestine is a primary Empire town at least on my server there are rebel corpses littering the area every day. I dont play a human and faction points for my race make it difficult to get into the Empire so I dont know if ill try, atleast until I can make a town with a startport in a remote location (near a Theme park)
Course it does help that I have a monopoly on Mabari armour
