I hate resorting to the same disruptive behaviour that others in other professions have done, but it appears that without drawing attention we will never get anything fixed in this profession.

It is cynical to say that the reason we don't get any attention is that we don't affect combat, but there is an uneasy feeling in my gut that says that statement may not be all that far off the mark.

I am going to start bugging the reseting of ad barkin, planet map, and 7 days on vendor every time I login. Maybe we can bump it up their priority list.

Sounds like a plan, I too just did it and will do it everytime I log in.

I suggest that every merchant do so, everyday, untill they are fixed. It may be tedious but hell we have to do everything else everyday.

And with the planetary map thing. The server is just clearing it, I mean it doesnt even turn the option off on your vendor, you have to turn it off then turn it back on, and if you do it on a non NPC Vendor you still get charged for it even though its not working.

Better yet, bug report for every vendor, every time advertising resets, and bug report for every item that's removed after a week. I know, they'd probably consider that a spamming and ban you, but getting them to even acknowledge bugs sometimes seems like guerilla warfare.

heheh werent you here when I got banned from the forums for the merchant cause? I posted on every board that merchants needed to be nerfed. People everywhere, including here thought I was nuts, and I admit I had been without sleep for quite a long time.I was banned for a few days, BUT right after I did that Holo actually posted something about the Vendor Maint thing.. I'm not saying it was because of me.. oh yes, yes I am. Hahha just kidding.

Taking it for the Team since 1987.

AGREE

For a game marketted on it's dynamic player-driven economy, the merchant and vendor issues have received far too little attention.

I also find it harder each day to log in and re-register my vendor, while paying for a broken feature. Half my ad-barking NPCs don't bark, and occasionally my vendors un-initialize resulting in a loss of all stock.

BUG? Why?! It's not like we're seeing any results. Heck, even a "we're aware of the problem and working on it" would be great. But as usual, SOE demonstrates their complete inability to connect with their customers.

If afriend were to ask me if they should buy this game now, I'd answer, wait a couple months... until after open beta.

Well I am a Merchant and a Smuggler, and I can tell you, although the Merchant class needs a lot of love, Smuggler is just plain broken. Seriously, every skill tree is broken. And as far as combat goes, Smuggler ceased to be a combat profession with the last big patch.

How is theslicing treebroken?I'll agree that the other trees need help but I can't see how you would say every tree is broked when slicing works just fine now.

I'm back to shouting in the starport. 7 million credits in stock and I am reduced to doing exactly what I did the first day of release selling CDEF's and looted clothing.

I had hoped that we'd see a reaction here today. Dont' know why..I'm just a die-hard optimist.

As for the store? I won't let it die slowly because I'm not a quitter. I restocked today even though I didn't want to. I have to believe it isn't in vain. If I DO quit..it's going to leave a HUGE empty house on the beach that nobody is going to be able to ignore.

What's lacking is basic motivation. My motivation is basic Greed and Envy..but that competetive edge is dulled by no way to USE my money..and no way to beat exploiters. The most basic example of this is in the cantina tonight. 10 entertainers...mostly afk. There's no motivation to be the BEST entertainer, no way to be RICH, FAMOUS, and POWERFUL if you work hard enough. So the bandleader doesnt' tell jokes, the dancers dont' interact. It's boring. I left as soon as I got my mindheal, I tipped the one dancer who said something to prove she wasn't afk..3k and she was already afk when she got it..not even a thank you. I'ma sociologist by training..and I thought that entertainers worked for personal glory and fulfillment..how does the entertainer tree reflect that?

There are too many sticks and not enough carrots in SWG. I will come back to pretend to be a wealthy merchant in the SW universe..but it's not going to ABSORB and immerse me night after night. In the final analysis this should be called a MMRPT..the 't' being for toy. After you beat the 'lower levels' it's more akin to Sim City than Cloud City.

It will be a long time before merchants get the loving that is deserved. We are a small class with a small voice. I bet if we were as big in numbers as the CH group, we would be getting attention!

Despite the numerous problems with merchant right now, and the need to improve the skills to warrant the use of precious skill points, I really do enjoy my merchant skill. I am not a big time seller like many of you, but it is just plain fun. I could only imagine how fun it actualy could be if the class wasn't so bugged or broken.

The whining here is understandable. At least here, you find others dealing with the same woes and can talk about it. I also get a lot of insight from the experienced merchants, and that has saved me a lot of grief.

Sat down this evening to stock the vendor..again. With 3 million credits of resources in my bag..all of varying types and qualities I sat down on my sales floor and began splitting my resources and writing down their stats for later emails as I always do.

I forgot that I sat down LAST week at this time to restock the melee weapons on the vendor. They don't sell as fast as the ranged weapons. By the time the spam stopped I was completely demoralized.

[BEEP] l33tbuddy tells you "Hey man we're having a huge group on Yavin. It's a BLAST ..you should come!"

I sat there on the floor feeling like a moron. I pay 15$ a month to NOT go to Yavin?? SoI left..the restocking would have to wait another day. Would it be so wrong to have had the tools to do BOTH?! If I were a weaponsmith I could simply take a droid along and crank out custom orders during downtime..but as a MERCHANT I have to have my virtual butt NAILED to my virtual store or just close it.

If I'm just supposed to pretend to be a merchant..couldn't I just have a pretend skilltree and pretend skills? Oh wait..that's a little too close to the truth.
