Thread: Is anyone else worried about the register vendor changes?

Actually, it isn't true that most vendors on the maps are stocked now. A fair number of people seem to register daily whether they have stock or not. Why register an empty vendor? Who knows, but it's amazing how many do. Having a longer limit wouldn't change things that much I don't think.

If they would let uscustomize name ofa vendor when it is registered to the world map. I think that would help out with several issues. That way I could have myvendors named something reasonable when people are in my shop, and have my shop listed as something reasonable on the world map.

A similar solution would be to allow us to register our houses on the world map. I still would like to be able to have my shop name appear one way from my house sign and appear another way on the world map.

So far I believe the best suggestion is to register the shop (house) and be able to register 1 category per level of Advertising plus 2 more at Master. Thus a master merchant could list 6 categories.

The big problem for me is that because dropping from planetary map occurred at server start-up, I miss most of the day because Im at work. If it would stay up for 24 hours, beginning from when you register, then you would have heard much less complaining, I think. I woul dhappily go in at 7pm every night and re-register my vendor if they would stay registered until 7pm the next night. Of course it would be even better if I only had to do it on Sundays at 7pm or something, but I dont want to get my hopes up.

Here's a thought: When you register a vendor, it doesn't prompt you for a category. The vendor shows up in any category for which it has at least three items in stock.

That way, empty vendors don't show up at all.

This doesn't really help with the issue of vendor names... I'd rather see it be tied to the house rather than the vendor, but then you have the issue that you can have one merchant with Ad III register a building, then have fifteen people with Business III put Bulky Terminals in there and all be advertised on the planetary map. So it still needs refinement. But in the meantime, this might work better, and will help people who want to register in more than one category.

Nice idee of the category linked to the items on it. But then they will have to change some code that it isn't like on the bazaar, that if you sell a crate of Stim-A's you have to find them in the Misc/Factory Crates and not in the Pharma stuff.

Stim-B as item or Stim B's as crate should be in the same category.

Have the vendor drop off the map automatically if there are no items on the vendor. Don't put a timer on it, there are enough annoying timers as it is, and you still end up with vendors on the map that don't have anything on them. A vendor dropping off the map when it doesn't have merchandise gets the job done better, and less annoyingly.

Hi,

I used empty vendors myself to register the shop of friends to the map. This is one of the jobs a Merchant is made for, having your vendors spread all over the galaxy or focused on a single shop, this should all be possible.

i could care less about empty vendors. i only go to the shops near me anyway. my problem is that I run three shops and use and eampty vendor as a dropoff/planetary advertisement for my friends vendor. and i have to hop to three different planets and on the otherside of one to reset my vendors everyday. so my entore game experience is starting at a shop and registering, trying to do all my biz beofre i leave planet to go to other shop wash rinse repeat till by the end ive had no time to hunt or do a couple of other fun things and then i log and start again. i love being a merchant, but i would like to be one and also get to go on quests too.

I'd like to be able to turn planetary advertising on and off by remote by accessing any of my vendors or with a new control item. If a vendor has nothing on it to sell, I don't want to annoy my customers by having them travel to my shop only to find empty shelves.

However, it may notbe as much of a concern when player cities are active. The city with our vendors will be on the map and planetary advertising will be somewhat redundant.

On this subject, and slightly related to it, anyone notice that after a couple of patches back, the order of advertised vendors changed on the map? At least on my server, the first person to advertise after reset was always at the top of the list. Now it seems that the listings are getting randomized, perhaps out of fairness? Just thought I'd bring that up hehe.

If you use an empty vendor for advertising, you can still do it under this system, you just have to put some cheap CDEF or something on it for a ridiculously high price.

yes, with the bug now i atleast assume that the registered vendors have items since someone bothered to regester again.....once there are allways 200 weapons shops listed it will be worthless....
