Thread: Merchant Tent and other Player City Pics
Yes, I went on TC last night and checked them out too. They came from QAville, the other city has a city hall and that's about it.
I liked most of the structures. Cantina looked as good as it did in the pics, but it was quite small tho, guess I'm used to the static ones.
The merchant tents... starting to imagine how they might be used successfully. Even tho they are tiny, they can still offer another shopping layout style than what we have seen so far.
The city hall is like one of the palaces in Theed, and especially like how we can place a fountain inside to make it look really nice. ![]()
The border limits provide plenty of open space too, if the location is a good one.
I'm pretty sure the idea behind the tents is that they are open in the front, so you can place a merchant in them, and that merchant will now be visible without having to go into a house. This will probably end up being a decent bonus to people using them. People heading to a player city to see what's for sale are going to look for those tents first.
If the tents are the same as other buildings, then the interior shouldn't load until you actually enter the structure. Tho I can't be sure they do follow this as I didn't see any tents in QAville with items set up inside. Was going to try to test this with the structure control panel, but TC is now atm.
There is still the sign on the outside tho. The inside is quite tiny tho, it certainly wouldn't fit all my vendors. And for those that set up displays, definately need a full-size house for that.

They aren't meant to be shopping malls. They are meant to be little one or two vendor shops. I would defeinitely use one when they came out even though I have multiple vendors. But having a vendor right in the city square would have a lot of traffic advantages over one in a house. People will run into these things and check out the vendor because it is so easy to do so. On of the things that has always bothered me about medium and large Tatooine houses is that they have that long useless hallway that you have to run down before you even see if there is a vendor inside.
