"Holocrons" are a rare & random drop from certain high-level NPCs. What Holocrons do is tell you what professions to master to open the Force Slot to make a Jedi character. These are just hints, as several people have reached what the community is calling "Quiet Holocrons". Basically, once you mastered a certain number of professions, the Holocrons stop giving you hints.
