Thread: SOE's Response to the Mass Merchant Bannings on every server

I'll posit a guess as to this reason. It's because there are no lines of communication between the devs and the CSRs. If there were, I'd like to think we wouldn't have incompetent CSRs who confiscate legit items and don't know how basic game systems work. Conversely, the devs might know just how poor, pathetic, and craptastic the "customer service" (and I use that term loosely) we typically receive is.
There are exceptions. I myself have had at least 1 good experience with a CSR. But that's about 4 less than I should have had.

Well for me every contact with a CSR (to date) has been good and efficent service. I wish that were the norm but from reading the forums it would appear not to be.

Well after kicking and screaming (not literally but close) I demanded to speak to someone in charge at SOE and was able to talk to the Lead CSR. He and I discussed the mass bannings of poeple all over SWG and he gave me their reason for what is occuring. He said pretty much what we already knew but expanded a little more. People are being banned on all servers for the people who made duped credits buying our items. He assured me that they are working on it 24/7 and that GM's will be responding to emails as soon as they can. He said that they are doing everything they can to ensure that none of the duped credits get into the economy. I asked him why they haven't said anything yet, he said he wasn't sure why the devs had not said anything yet, but that he assured me they were working on getting things straight.
It's not much more than we already knew but at least they aren't going to perma ban the merchants. I think we all knew that if they did that the chaos that would ensue. Anyway, after 20 minutes of waiting and demanding, I got as much out of them as I could. Hopefully we get our accounts reactivated soon.
Odd to me as I have a merchant and haven't been banned. But as for CSR's they know as much as we do about this game

A new credit-dupe has surfaced. We are aware of the issue and have corrected it already. Unfortunately, an insane amount of "counterfeit" credits are circulating throughout the galaxies. We do have transaction logs and know exactly who did the duping and what they've done with the credits since
In an effort to prevent this from destroying all the galactic economies, we are in the process of suspending all accounts that now possess or have ever possessed counterfeited credits.
We realize this will mean that some players receive suspensions for doing nothing more than having a vendor or receiving a tip. We are committed to reviewing the transaction logs and using the information therein to restore access to innocent accounts within 48 hours.
We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause to the innocent players we have impacted. However, we feel this is necessary in order to avoid the greater negative impact that so many counterfeit credits will have on the game's economy.
Please note that in some cases, we will have to remove the counterfeit credits from innocent accounts without compensation; however, where we are able we will returns items that were paid for with counterfeit credtis as we remove the credits from the game.
Thank you.
OK, Thunderheart really didn't write it. But I wish he would have.
lol funny I was still getting mad reading it. That would be complete bull S H I T to ban someone for having a duper buy thier items not your fault just give the item back.

CSRs are in San Diego, California and the devs are in Austin, Texas so I'm sure you're right.
People who are banned, then unbanned because they were innocent should, at the very least, receive credit for the days they were unable to play. I bet they don't even get an apology however, other than the canned one in TH's post.

All persons potentially involved in the dupe have been banned or suspended.
People who have been banned or suspended are going through the appeals process now. Each case is resolved privately between the customer and customer service. The appeals process will be complete by early next week.
Over 75% of the duped credits are being removed from the economy preventing hyper-inflation in the SWG economy.
No vendor owners were suspended for purchases made from their vendor with duped credits, only people that had money directly transferred to them were affected.
We are committed to maintaining a safe and fair playing environment and exploiting will not be tolerated.
This is what is on the sign in screen this morning.
