Master Merchant

  • Reduced Vendor Maintenance. Grants an additional Vendor. Grants an additional Vendor Placement.

This would help with the issues being brought up by people wanting the Miners to return. This allows the Artisans to be the only profession able to place Harvestors on the Planetary Map. Also, by allowing only the Artisans to gain building Lots for the purpose of mining....it will help reduce the amount of structures in the world. Houses and PA halls would no longer count as building lots and every player is able to have a single house whether it be a small, medium, large or PA Hall....it can only be 1 structure.

This would also make the Merchant class viable in that only the Merchant has Vendors. If someone (let's say an Armorsmith) wants to sell armor, but does not want to be a merchant...then he would have to find a merchant that would allow him the use of the vendor. The Armorsmith would then be added to the Vendor Access list (Not admin list) which would allow the armorsmith the ability to sell his items. There would be the 10% markup for the Merchant, but when the sale was made...the armorsmiths price would be added to his bank account and the merchant would receieve the 10% in his account.

This would also nerf the PA's hand in monopolizing the market with either resources or items for sale. The smaller PA's or even the single crafters would be able to stay in the game due to the large PA's inability to gather so many resources due to the fact that almost all PA's out there carry out 5% Artisans (which are the only folks that can use harvesters in this scenario). There would be no reason for a Bounty Hunter to have harvesters.....at all.

This would also help with server stability and the amount of data that the server would have to keep track of (Maybe)

Thoughts.....Comments?

I just wished they would start somewhere like, The Planetary Ads. Fix the bug that makes me travel to each of my venders everyday to register them on the Planetary map.

Just start somewhere, instead of the typical ," Oh is that a bug?", I've been seeing on the devs responses to other correspondents threads.

Pay for play beta, is not all that bad, I mean we are all still playing, They just need to do more to get it to a gold level release standard.

Sorry, Marqie. Im just fed up as the rest of you are and something needed to be done. Today Squad Leaders were alerted that they will be getting some changes as well. Still not a single friggin' word to us just saying "Hey, we know you guys are hurting, and we are gonna help you." Time after time I see comments on crap that means nothing yet we are left hanging. This needs to change. Maybe we should spam the rest of the boards with the same post over and over again just to get attention. Something. Anything!

::BUMP::

I think Marquie's doing a great job! But because of certain limitations, I think this thread is a great way to put our better, class-changing ideas forth. And wow, what a great bunch if ideas so far!!

I just made Master Merchant the other day. I need a t-shirt that says "I made Master Merchant and all I got was this lousy 3PO droid" that doesn't even speak.

Now, everyone scream with me "The current vendor maintenance scheme is a ridiculous tax on inventory! If you want a tax on sales, make it work that way! No sustainable national economy has EVER been maintained under such an oppressive tax scheme. I don't care what your RL political beliefs are, if you want an economy to work, and capital to flow, you can't take so much money out of publiccirculation via taxes!"

You mean I got master merchant and all I got was this stupid Protocol Droid Vender?

Well, I guess I did only pay one skill point for it but it is a Master level of an elite profession and all I get is a Protocol Droid Vendor and a reduction in my vendor costs taking them from 1 credit to nothing. If I did a crafting mission and got 800 credits I could keep all 6 vendors running for 5 days at 1 credit a piece/ hour so a reduction in vedor costs is not required.

I was really excited about getting master merchant and then I got it and it is fairly useless. I think everyone here has great ideas and I would like to see some or any of them implimented. I really like the extra lots idea for merchants but I think it would get abused.

I remember they mentioned Politician professionin the early day of beta but it got axed. I would like to see Politician become a post Master Merchant class (like urban planners for Architects). Maybe giving them special bonuses to do with player cities (better structures etc...)

There's a descripton of each skill/benefit gained in each skill box. Half of them don't work. Just fix it please.

(resetting vendor greetings daily, not being able to dress them, and relisting daily on the planetary map are my current gripes)
