Thread: I WANT MUSIC IN MY SHOP!!!
We need Architects to be able to build 'Nightclubs' where funky diva disco music plays so loud it hurts the ear drums. Artisans could make jukeboxes that you could operate (money sink) where we could switch Manilow / Sinatra tracks at will*
Along the lines of the clubs in AO where people had parties. I miss the best dressed / funkiest dressed competitions.
I am hopeful that we can get a couple of new structures too (A mall for large businesses and a smaller storefront for smaller businesses) but until that time limiting to the Tent would be a severe limitation since there just aren't that many people using the tents.
Yeah, I really like the idea of Merchant-only designated buildings like our Tents. A small Window Shop would really kick butt. Could you imagine how nice that would be to actually have a large window out front to allow people to window shop? And allowing us merchants to customize what we put in the windows daily? That would totally rock!
But getting back to the music idea... I believe it should be on the Merchant skill tree and as you get more xp, the better selection music you get, just like the signs and number of vendors progresses.

Since it's music, why not have musicians craft an item that plays the music? A jukebox or something, with a few different styles, each with it's own music type.
That turns this into a general feature and not a merchant perk until you are going to have the "jukeboxes" limited to only merchants. I'm not sure I've made up my mind I'm ok with this either way.

Actually, I like this idea because it will give entertainers some extra added income, which they need. However, I agree it should only be used by merchants.
The coding already exists to keep it local to certain areas.
If you go to the Guildhall University in Bestine, you'l notice on the inside you can hear the xylophone song from Jabba's palace in ROTJ.
Jabba's throne room also has local music being played by the Max Rebo Band.
It would not be hard at all to add this feature. I hope they do.
DocSavage,
As long as the merchant got paid for it, why would it be bad that it is a service he can perform for others?
And I would imagine it would be controlled through the houase control terminal, which mean it would only work on houses the merchant had admin access too.

For it to be a viable market it would have to be something that required the merchant to come back from time to time. Otherwise it will get a lot of attention for a while then everyone will have their music set and the market will be gone.
On the other hand if you make the item a disposable music box from musicians then it can have a lifespan and either require a replacement or it can require batteries or other replenisable items to create a long term income stream.
