Merchant XP (Sometimes comes in lumps):
- 150 XP per hour per vendor [Received in lumps whne vender Exists*] (Can place first at Bus 3)
- 50 XP per view of vendors by person [Must click refresh or a category. Veiwing multiple vendors does not increase] (Can get every 10

- *Just like harvesters, vendors only exist when a player can see it. When there are no players arround the vendor drops from the
servers memory. When another player comes into the house the vendor will load again, experience over time will be updated, and the vendor will
"exist" till it unloads again.

a house you own or on the admin list. the vendor will be added to your inventory. Simple drop it where you want it.

is listed on the planetary map, you should name your vendor in such a way to identify the store and what it sells. (i.e. Draznar's Adventure
Outfiters or Draznar's Power Company)
Word of Mouth: They never added the feature to have an NPC in cities to advertise their wares and vendors.

Merchant Tiltes:
- Advertising IV = Propagandist
- Effeciency IV = Businessman (same as Artisan/Business tree)
- Hiring IV = Foreman (same as Architect/Construction tree)
- Management IV = Manager
Cut, Copy, & Paste:
- Ctrl-O (options), Controls, Map Keys, Chat Controls
- Remap Cut (Ctrl-Shift-X), Copy (Ctrl-Shift-C) & Paste (Ctrl-Shift-V)
Using Color/Tabs: Color can be used in Signs, Emails, and Descriptions by using \#FF0000 (where FF0000 is the hex color for red
href="http://www.lynda.com/hexh.html" target=_blank>Hex Color Link) and tabs can be used by entering \@01 or \@02 in text.
Multiple Line on house sign or harvesters: Create color text in macro or email editor, copy and paste to name field.
Ideas for signs in house: change the name (use color) of a packs and drop it.
Vendor on Planetary Map: Option available on Vendor after getting Advertising 3, Register then select category.
Dressing a vendor: Requires Hiring 4, just drag cloths, armor, or weapons onto vendor. The vendor will never
return the item.
Length of sale: Items remain for sale for 30 days. They drop to the stockroom. Items in the stockroom are deleted after 7
days. DO NOT Store items in the stockroom.
Offers to Vendor: Items offered to a vendor count against the person 25 limit on bazaar sales.
NotePad: The /notepad command allows you to edit a text file from SWG that stores as notes.txt in your profile directory. (For
example if your station name is Chatlana it would likely be C:\program files\StarWarsGalaxies\Profiles\Chatlana\notes.txt) This file is useful
for storing bits of information you may need in your adventuring. MOst merchants use this for sales letters and item descriptions. The notepad
autosaves any changes, so you can escape (ESC) out of it without losing any information. Suggection: Map to a short-cut key.
Saving Mail: The /mailsave command saves your mail in individual numbered (datestamped) files in your profile directory in a
subdirectory called 'mail'. This is also a faster way to download all the message and change them all to read. PepeGSay has created a

Merchant Tent FAQ
- Who can make Merchant Tents? Architects with Construction I can make tents. They require 400 metal, 600 hide, 200 ore, 20
fiberplast panels (Artisan made), and 4 indentical reinforced fiberplast panels (Tailor made). - What's the maintenance rate? 10cr per hour
- Can tents be placed outside of a player city? Yes. They can be place anywhere a house could be placed.
- Can I declare residency at my tent? Yes. It acts like a normal house in every way EXCEPT for the fact that it always stays
public. - Can you drop items in a Merchant Tent? Yes. They can hold upto 75 items, not including vendors.
- How many lots does it take? 1 lot. It's just short of a 3x3 footprint, about the size of a Naboo round.
- How many vendors can I place in a tent? As many as you want, Merchant skill permitting. Any type of vendor can be placed in a
tent. - It says I lack the skill to own the building. What's this mean? Means you don't have the Merchant skill Efficiency IV,
structures. - Can someone else place a tent for me and admin me to it? Yes. Someone with Eff IV can place a tent and admin someone else to it, and
they receive the same full rights as they would on a house, including the ability to drop vendors. However, keep in mind you are still renting
a lot from the person with Eff IV. - Can I transfer the Tent to another player? You place a merchant tent and then /transferstructure it to someone without Eff IV. It
will give you the same error as when a non-eff4 merchant tries to place it herself. the owner MUST have Eff IV. -
- What colors do tents come in? Tents come in three colors, each with a diffenernt type of foundation. The
href=http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-10/440443/tentbrown.jpg target=_blank>Default (the deed listed with no color) is a mild, wood-like brown with a
leathery pattern and the Tatooine sandstone base. The Grey is a soft,
almost blue, grey has red stripes and the plain Corellian metal base. The
href=http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-10/440443/tentgreen.jpg target=_blank>Green is a muted emerald with a circular pattern and the Naboo cinderblock
base. All feature the same two hanging yellow lights out front. Any color can be placed on any planet. - I'm on a mount, and the tent interior displays as red like a private house. Why? All buildings are automatically private while
riding a mount. You need to /dismount first, and then enter. Can tents be built outside player cities?
Misc. FAQ
- Can someone else manage/share a vendor? A: Only the owner of a vendor can manage that vendor.
- How many items can I put on my vendor? A: There is no limit at this time, but
href=http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Developers&message.id=18573 target=_blank>this may change soon. - Why do I see the items from my other vendor? A: You are looking at the Region view on your vendor. The merchant has a unique view,
where we can see Univers, Region, or the specific vendor. Customers can only see what is on that specific vendor. - What was the price I had on this item in my stockroom? A: If you double click icon the item you will see the previous price and
description. - How do I create and reuse a standard advertising email? A: Email the message to yourself, then you can forward it to others.
- How can I copy my descriptions? A: Map keys for cut, copy, and paste (see above). Copy the descriptions to the ingame /notepad. Cut
and paste to the description field. - How do I manage vendors on other planets. A: Select stock room. Click the button for the whole galaxy. You'll see ALL your items
on EVERY vendor that didn't sell. Click on sell and the item wil go back on the vendor it was previously listed on. - How do I rename a vendor? A: You can't rename a Vendor. You will need to create a new on and transfer your inventory.
- How can I hire an NPC to bark in a city? A: You Can't. This feature was canceled in Beta.
Known Bugs
- Surrender Skill:Players can place vendors or merchant tents, surrender Merchant skills, and still retaining the use of the
vendors and merchant tents. This undermines those that are merchants, and makes our class a throw away. NO OTHER CLASS IN THE GAME
ALLOWS YOU TO RETAIN A SKILL AFTER YOU BACK OUT OF IT!!! - Overlaping Vendor Names: In the overhead view (Ctrl-M) vendors at the same location will have their names overlap, so none a
legible. - Not on Planet Map: After server reset the vendor must exist before it will show on planetary map.
- Not Initialized: Even though vendors have been initialized, some vendor gives you this error when using it. Only effects Droid annd
Terminal style Vendors. Workaround
Thread - Multiselect Item Deletion: If you multiselect and retrieve more than your inventory can handle, you will lose the items that do not
fit in you inventory. - Tax on Offers: Offers to vendors in PC are taxed. Thus, items that are resold are taxed twice.
- Disapearing Vendors: Vendors randomly vanish, sometimes returning on server rest, sometime not. This may be tied to the house being
on a server boundary. CSRs have fixed a few. - "This Item No Longer Exists": Item is not gained, but credits are refunded. ( refunding credits doesn't make up for a potentially
irreplacable item being destroyed) - Vendor Damage: Vendors do not report that they are nearly out of maintence.
- Custome Ad Barking: The %TT and so on do not work in the "NON CANNED" barks.
- Failed to create vendor. Your inventory may be full. The volume of the female Aqualishes are bugged such
that it takes up more space in your inventory than you have available.
Known Bugs with WorkArounds
- Empty Stockroom/Offers: All items on Stock Room or Offer disappear after dealing with one. For some reason a category is being
changed, so list only shows this empty category. Fix by clicking All. - Efficiency: The maintenance rate does not always reflect the Efficience skill. Fix by paying some maintenance (even 1 credit
will do). - No Emails: Some users stop receiving emails. Fix by using the /emptyMail command until you get the "unable to empty mailbox"
message.

Power Leveling
Suggestions and corrections are always encourage. This guide is the fruits of all the Merchant Forums posters. Thanks for all the help.
Recommended Path:
- Novice artisan: Mine or buy a bunch of metal. You can use my survey macro (See Macros at end). Use my Practice Crafting Macro (See
Macros at end) to make survey devices. - Business 1: Buy a house or better yet several Houses. You can place 10 of the small round Naboo houses, since they take up only one
lot. Setup a entrance fee of 1 credit for 15 minutes. Change sign to say you will tip those who pay your fee. Offer gifts to those that visit
all your houses. Or come up with your own creative way to get people to visit the houses. - Business 3: Place up a vendor and sell stuff. I recommend selling items that you can make or buy off a friend. Change sign to
reflect what you are selling. If you can place your vendor in a busy place it would be better with the current overtime xp problem. - Business 4: No need to craft, You are now waiting on merchant experience. Note: Experience is buggy (See experience section
of Guide) - Novice merchant: Place another vendor.
- Management Tree: Place another NPC vendor for each level. I used my basement to store empty vendors. Keep all your stock on one
vendor, then you can delete and replace the other vendors if xp overtime becomes bugged. - Advertising Tree: At 3 start registering your vendors on the planetary map.
- Efficiency Tree: Decrease the cost of doing business.
- Hiring Tree: You can have fun with different vendors.
- Master: Congratz you can now place your silent protocal droid and maybe try another holocron.

Awesome Job!
Thanks alot
Fantasic guide. I just started doing merchant and had so many questions you answered. Thanks a lot!
XP is given at ticks in the game (every 10 minutes I beleive)if your vendor *Exists* otherwise you get it in lumps when the vendor *Exists* and is used. You cannot really browse your own vendors. You get a different interface and get no XP from using it. Who owns the house does not effect vendor xp, only entrance fee xp.
Crillan wrote: Does the exp per hour per vendor depend on when you set the vendor up or do you get exp for all your vendors at once, every hour? Also can you gain exp by browsing your own vendor? I was told you can but I don't see anything happening even when I hit refresh every 10 minutes. Also, do you get exp from vendors in someone elses building? I have a vendor in a friend's med center but I'm not sure I'm getting the exp for it.
