Thread: Weird non-customer experience

I thought I'd share a nice story with y'all.

On Saturday, I noticed someone offering backpacks with 50 items to my vendor for 99999999 credits. So, naturally I'm quite taken aback because it occurred to me that someone else was using MY vendor for their storage.

I send the person a tell to the effect of what the heck are you doing. Which they ignored. I sent them another tell saying why are you using my vendor for storage. To which the person replied, oh I didn't think anyone used this vendor anymore. (It was stocked with well over a hundred items.)

I then sent the person a nice note saying how using someone else's vendor for storage was quite a dangerous thing to do because one could get banned from the merchant tent or I could simply delete the vendor.

The person then sent a tell saying he was moving a house. I told the person to have the stuff off my vendor within the hour or I'd get cranky.

Now, how would y'all react to this? Do you think the CSRs would think it was griefing if I had banned the person for using my vendor for storage? Should I have shrugged my shoulders and said "Whatever?" Does the item count of what the person had in the bags count against my total vendor item total? (BTW...he did have 'em gone when I checked later that night or I would have banned him...)

Has this ever happened to anyone else? In eighteen months of being a master merchant, this was a first time occurrence for me.

I would have honestly removed all my items and eleted the vendor

main reason:

we have know way of knowing a 'offer' is there

and then yes I would have spent time recreating as close as possible a lookalike as I could

but I am evil

if someone was saying outright that they're using my vendors for storage, I would've asked them to remove it. if they don't listen, I would've logged/screenied the chat and banned the guy. I'm fairly uptight when it comes to my business and my vendors

There's a fine line to walk between being evil and griefing.

If he was moving a house and just doing it temporarily, like for a couple of hours, I would've cut him slack. It's not like it affects us if someone does that long enough to get their things moved.

But if he was just doing it repeatedly or indefinitely, then a polite request/warning would be in place. All you have to do is say, "I cannot and am not responsible for your items. I appreciate you removing them within 24 hours." If need be, say, "I'm rearranging my vendors tomorrow, so please pick your things up ASAP. Again, I am not responsible for your items if you use my vendor for your storage." (And maybe do a shopban once he has.)

I feel that intentionally deleting the vendor while is stuff on it would be griefing in most cases, maybe even in the case above,as having the offers there generally doesn't affect us (other than annoying us) for people to do that. Not that it's polite for him to do it.

Is itdisrespectful for someone to use your vendor without asking.

Anyway, people make mistakes. Use your judgement... if it's a nice person, be lenient. If it's a jerk... I wouldask him to come and get his belongings asap and ban him from the building1 hour later.

And I most certainly won't destroy my vendor, itusually takes me 1 houruntil I get one which is not fat, ugly, old, with pink hair and green lips.

Luckily no, but its still VERY rude to use your vendor as storage without asking first.

If it had been me I would have told them its best to ask first, that we do not get any notification of items being offered, and that their items would get destroyed if the vendor was deleted for any reason. But I would not delete the vendor to be mean, for me it would just too much hassle just to teach someone a lesson.

Well you could always have boot an entrance fee on the house as for evil... reject the offers and ban him from the building... Then send a "ransom" note by email for negations to get of the ban list.

I'd just reject all the offers. If the person attempts to re-offer, I'd reject them again, and ban that person from my shop.

I thought that offers to vendors count against your items on the bazaar (max 25). So I didn't think people could offer a pack of 50 items any more, since the max we can have on the bazaar is 25. What part am I incorrect about?

I think that packs still count as one item from an offers/bazaar standpoint.

Yes. Packs count as one item when offered to a vendor. I am not sure about the bazaar, as I've never offered a pack on bazaar. I would presume it's the same, but wouldn't bet money on it.

Our guild often transfer items in packs via offers to each other's vendors, for 1 credit or the price agreed, rather than waiting to catch each other online for trades. It goes up for offer as 1 item. I canoffer25 packs, no matter how many items are in each pack.

When you reject an offered sale, does it automatically go back in the person's inventory, or do they have to go back to the vendor to pick it up again? *is a noob merchant*

If it's the former, I'd wait about 15 minutes or so and reject it. And then I'd be amused at their whining that their inventory is overloaded and they can no longer move.

I don't suffer fools well.
