Thread: Do customers do this to you?

I logged in last night, went to my vendors to check my stock. Checked the offer tab and someone was offering a weapon. This weapon was not made by me, inferior to what I sell, and the price he offered it at was a third higher than the new ones I was selling. I figured he must have bought something and was looking for a trade-in. Went through 3 days of email, his name didn't appear once.

Just wondering if it's just me. Do people try to use you as a bank to get cash by selling you things you'd never resell?

(If someone's a paying customer I'm generous with trade-ins, but you need to draw the line somewhere.)

Nice!

I just don't understand the mindset. I wouldn't offer something on someones vendor without some sort of arangement, an e-mail of explanation, or at least a pretty good idea that they wanted what I was offering at the price I offered it at.

I have left something on a a vendor of a merchant I had a relationship with and sent them an email telling them that I had done it and letting them know if they didn't want it I woul pick it up later. But that isn't the same thing as randomly offering merchandise to someone I don't know.

No problem with that. I'd even understand if he had bought a more expensive item and was trying to angle for a discount. But I have no idea who this person is. I sent him an email just to try to figure out what he was thinking before I reject the sale. Maybe he went LD just as he was about to buy tens of thousands of credits worth of stuff. (or maybe not.)

I think that is you reject it, they get an email, and have 7 days to come get it or it is gone.

I've always used the policy that I'll buy anything offered if I can resell it for a profit. I also accept back clothes customers have just brought for the full price (often people buy something and realise they can't wear it etc, but it has to be just after they've brought it). So far, my customers have all been really good. Everything offered to me has been at a good price. For clothes, they look at my price, and offer it for less. Often 50% or lessthan my normal price. They make a little money on things they don't want, and I make a profit too, so it works out well.

I'd just reject anything that was offered for a silly price. I don't see any need to email someone if they do that. They can ask me if they want to know why.

I recommend if it's an un-solicited sale, or something you don't want, reject the offer. After 7 days, if they don't pick it up they lose it.

I average 50 to 75 items offered to my venders per day. All these are from random players and unsolicited.

I bought something from a person once and he told a friend who also told a friend, and now hundreds of players offer me wares. I pick and choose and buy anything i think i can resell fast and at a Small Margine... that way it turns fast.

I beleive this is excactly what a merchant is supposed to do, and i really like the offers.

If a person offers me something priced to high i reject it, they often ask why and i explain wholesale/retail and my margine of profit needed. However i will and do buy hundreds of items a week from vendor offers by players, and have made a small steady profit from these offers.

I have had one person offer one of my items back to me, but I rejected it, since he did not send me a e-mail. I would like an email or tell before some tries and "returns" an item.
