I have a question for the rest of the merchant community.
I recently opened a vendor in a friend's shop. In that shop, there are a number of vendors - all of the same race and all dressed similarly (at least in terms of colors). He allowed me to place a vendor in his shop but, at only Novice Merchant, I can't choose the clothing that my vendor wears. As such, he's a bit of an eyesore, really.
What I'm wondering is, if I were to gain the skill to dress my merchant, could I dress him in the appropriate attire and then drop the skill (as I would like to use the skillpoints elsewhere). Granted, I wouldn't be able to change his clothing in the future, but that's fine. Does anyone know if that works?
Thanks.

Yes, until they remove the ability to drop a skill and keep it's effects.

I realize they're making some changes - most dramatically is the ability of some to keep vendors when someone has given up the merchant profession. But, is that going to apply to clothing? Does anyone know? It seems like such a little thing.

I would guess yes that they would try to remove as many dropped skill effects as possible, and this would count as it is a skill of Hiring IV. But who knows. The logistics of fixing all the vendors to remove any dropped skill enhancements will be ridulous as well as completely bug filled. So you are probably safe. The DEVs have said very little about what they are going to do or how they will handle it. I expect the debate on removing vendors to last for at least another month because if any Merchant changes happen, they won't be until the next big patch after the upcoming one.

U think we are more concerned about dropping Maint. skill and keeping extra vendors. I am hoping that we will get a complete rework sometime. I want us to get more skills. Maybe the hiring tree can be merged into another tree. Who knows.

The rules for enforcing Hiring would have to be fairly complex and would involve restoring default clothing etc...I would personally concede that issue if they fixed the Management tree issue and the Merchant Tent.

Technically yes, but I will hunt you down if you do.

It is inexcusable to utilize a perk of my profession when you do not plan on keeping the skill points in the skill. I worked hard on this broken profession, and Idont want daytime merchants steal our perks!!!
My suggestion to you is to have your friend add a vendor for you into his mall and sell your wares to him to add to the new vendor.

I am working toward Hiring III so that I can give my vendors something decent to wear. (Being a tailor, they're making me look bad!) Anyways, my question is this, Once you givew them an outfit to wear, can you give them something different if you don't like it?
I have read the FAQ and the awesome Merchant guide that are stickied and I know that you don't get anything back, but will they change if you give them something else? Thanks =)

Yes. Just drop the new item on them and they'll wear it.
Isn't it annoying to be a tailor and have your merchants dressed like poo? ![]()

Yes you can replace what they are wearing, but you cann;t retrieve the previous clothing. It is replaced and lost forever. Maybe it goes to 0,0?
