Thread: Can we get email options on vendors please?

My main bugbear with vendors is that they don't email you if an item is offered to them, but they do email you when you buy an item that has been offered to them - to me this is completely backwards!

What I'd love to see is something under the vendor control tab to allow us to determine which events will generate an email to the owner:
- "[vendor name] hasrun out of maintenance!" (or "[vendor name] maintenance is low!")
- "[vendor name]just sold [item] to [buyer] for [sale price] credits"
- "[person] has just offered [item name] to[vendor name] for [offer price] credits"
- "You have just purchased [item name], offered to [vendor name] by [person] for [offer price] credits"
- "[item name] has failed to sell and has been moved to the stock room, it will be deleted in 48 hours unless put back up for sale or retrieved"

(Yes, I am aware that there is a system message generated when a player makes an offer to a vendor you own, but that doesn't help if you're busy, AFK or offline at the time and don't see it - plus it doesn't have any info other than the player name.)

Can our correspondant please pass this request on?

That sounds like a cool feature. They do need to add an email here and there but I know a LOT of people who don't manage with the emails and whish they didn't get them or could control which they got.

Someone offered a couple items to my vendor last night and I did get an email for both. So I guess that part is working?

Seriously??

In that case my Merchant character is bugged - I've [i]never[/i] had an email when items have been offered on any of my 3 vendors, but I've seen the system message appear that "[player] has offered an item on your vendor." when I've been online.

I [i]do[/i] get emails on successful and unsuccessful "auctions" on the vendor, plus when I buy something that has been offered (which annoys the hell out of me as I tend to get stacks of offers at a time).

Can anyone else confirm that they get an [i]email[/i] when an item is offered to their vendor please?

This was actually the first time ever that I've received such an email. I've had vendor offers before, but not for a while before yesterday, so not sure if it was a stealth hot-fix or if some vendors are just simply bugged.

I too would like to hear from anyone who can confirm if they receive / do not receive such emails.

I have never received an email when the offer was given to me. You get them when you buy it later but not when the original offer is made.

These sound like good additions to the email interface.

The other feature I would like is to be able to create folders. This would allow me to move sells from each place I sell into their own folder. Thus making restocking easier.

I forgot to mention an additional email filter to those you provided:

  • I do not need an unsuccessful email when I take an item off a vendor. I am likely repricing and don't need 20 emails.

Actually, I'm 100% certain I got an email to this effect. I deleted it but will ask a friend to offer something on my vendor tonight to confirm. The message was something like: "An item has been offered to your vendor"...or something close to that.

Wow..I'm jealous. If you can duplcate that let me know and I'll try to find out why everyone isn't getting them.

I like the E-mails.. I actually do /mailSave and have a program that parses my sales up into a MySQL database and then use that for sales analysis etc. Helps me keep up to date on what is hot and what is not and my average selling price etc.

I would love an E-mail for offers but two toons, 12 vendors, not a single message ever.

What I really want is a /vendorSave option to list my vendor's current inventory to a file on my PC in csv format so you could open in excell or in my case save the data to my database for inventory control.

I would love this. It would have been great to have this before the last bug.

Yea a blessing and a curse. Not sure SOE really wants us to have that much information, but in the long run if they are smart they could build a tool to automatically verify the s/n's were not sold etc.and then reimburse us etc. I posted this to another thread as I don't want to hijack this one and this is a good threadin it's own right.
