I know this isn't what you're talking about but that made me laugh.

I just laugh at their ignorance. Remember it is the combat orientated players that wrecked the economy to begin with runing solo groups day and night and charging outrageous prices for components for weapons and armour. They are in a predicament they created themselves, but now they cry like spoilt little brats who have broken their rattle.
I laugh at the moronic content of their posts. It is obvious none of the morons posting their propoganda have ever tried to set up and run a successfull business in game. In the end they will be kicking themselves again when all that is left are low balling weasel pumpers selling sub par merchandise. If these morons were so concerned about the economy why do they persist in trying charging me 2 million per acklay bone and 150cpu for wooly hide ? They are indeed self destructive morons who have no clue and are seriously lacking in correct firing neurons in their brains.
Morons I salute you for your idioticy and purility. I hope you enjoy being such jackasses.
the point I have with this is that the market will adjust to the lower standard item prices... once people refuse to pay 150cpu for hide and millions for ackley bones, the prices will come down... there may be a drought of such things exchanging hands for a time, and no items based on them available, BUT , as always, the market WILL adjust.

You can't artifically lower prices in a market. The prices are fueled by the economy itself. If the credits in the galaxy come down to the point that people don't have the cash to buy those items at those prices then they will come down. Nothing will happen as long as the credits in the economy stay the same or get larger. Prices aren't artificallly high due to lack of competition they are high because people have the credits to pay for it.

ahhhh but that is exactly why SOE got rid of solo group payouts and is introducing more and more credit sinks... to get rid of the excess, and i think it is artificially high for both reasons: credits are abundant and competition is lacking.

And just like the real world when liberal-progressives get there way and attack the rich...the little guys get hurt a long time before the wealthy/exploiters get hurt.

about all the comments in the Dev Vendor thread. I guess the combatants view us all as greedy, price-gouging, monopolists..... Yeah, I make 4K per day, so I'm really doing well, I guess, compared to a master elite fighter.
And when I was a master ent/musician, all I heard was that we were afk tip-whores, and that NPC entertainers would be a good solution. So, how long until the fighters start demanding NPC vendors?
And I on the other hand was encouraged to see so many voices stand up
and speak against the comments like that, and enlighten so many on how we actually are.
There will always be oppossition to every action ever taken in a agame like this,
but knowing that our community came together so strongly in such force,
oh yeah better beleive I am a master Merchant by choice and notas a alt, baby!
"Elyssa" was originally an alt but I decided that she was more fun to play and I'm never going back to that original character.

I take offense at this statement. I am easily one of the most recognized Architects on Tempest because I worked HARD to get there. I didn't once play undercutting games, I have not a single vendor outside my player city, and that city is pretty far out of the way for the general populace to come to visit.
Having said that, people come to visit our city for the crafting, pvp and grinding facilities that we make available to the entire community. I, as the economic development of our guild, and countless others busted their tales to get our city the notariety it enjoys today.
I have almost single-handedly financed 8 armorsmiths, 3 weaponsmiths, 28 architects, 6 chefs, 4 tailors and 10 BE's. This doesn't even being to touch the hundreds I have helped throughout this game in other matters. I live with failure in the extreme due to the fact that people have lives that change their ability to play, they simply cannot handle the stress of crafting requirements, or they have outright quit the game over the manner in which crafters have been treated by the production team over the last 19 months.
However, the reason competition is lacking due to simple market forces.
- People only need so much to experience the game; there is a limit to the amount of effort a player will expend.
- It's very hard to acquire resources to sell the very best products.
- The limitations of acquiring those resources, animal or not, is not fun for the majority of players.
- They are not used to games that delays satisfaction or achievement over MULTIPLE months, as this one does (crafting).
- I can make more instantcredits playing any fighting profession instantly.
