Thread: Focus Thread: Vendor Search System on TC

The new Galaxy Wide Vendor Search System is currently up on Test Center.

Check out the patch notes in this thread.

Please post your feedback over there, but I've created this thread specifically for merchants to have discussions that won't be lost amongst the static of the general population.

I would ask that you provide feedback specifically from using the system on TC and not just your opinions based on what you've heard about the system.

Please try to keep your feedback constructive. The system can still be tweaked before going live. Ranting about it accomplishes nothing.

From what I just saw, there's no prices listed. I'm feeling much more comfortable.

EDIT: I spoke to soon, see below.

Double click on the item and the price shows up. You click buy and then you can just go pick it up at the vendor by clicking the available tab. The only thing they took away was the abilty to sort by price.

I shudder to imagine the size of some of these listings if this hits Live with no improvement on item filtering. "Armor: Items 1-100 of 2384792873428973847"

First of all, BobaFleck: Is your name an homage to that Master of All Things Banjo, Bela Fleck? If so, I want to have your children.

Back on topic: Prices are still there, BUT you cannot sort or search by them. Which is awesome, and a compromiseI can live with (or try to). I also am very happy with the access fees being listed.

The only thing I'd suggest is to make the distance the distance from a shuttleport or spaceport, rather than where you're standing now, or give you a toggle for that. People will be more likely to ride 800m to pick up something than take a shuttle to a store *right* in front of the shuttleport that's 3k away, even though that's the faster and safer route. Or star items that are on vendors in shuttleport towns. It'll reduce the impact on the player towns.

Screenshot of the new look to the Bazaar terminal: http://www.catlore.com/kay/vendorsearch.jpg (

The item description window looks just like they always have.)

As you can see, you can sort by Item Name, Item Type, Location, Distance and Access Fee. Distance works only on the planet you're on. There is no text string search, and no changes have been made to the Bazaar's item tree. (ie Furniture is still all lumped together, Jewelry is still separate from Clothing, and Factory Crates remain under Factory Crates.) You CANNOT search by Price, but you can examine an item and it'll have the price on it.

There is also the option to add a waypoint for the vendor location of your choice with one click. (See screenshot.) Very handy.

ALSO: They did remove the ability to do a search from player vendors. YAY!

Overall, it appears as if our concerns were heard, and a balance was found.

For those who haven't gone onto TC:

You can now search all REGISTERED vendors from the Bazaar interface. A Vendors tab has beed added, You can select region, planet and galaxy. Entry fees (if any) are now listed on the search. You CAN find the price and purchase remotely, but it involves actually double clicking to see the Prices. You can NOT search other vendors from a player vendor (That right there was my biggest issue - glad it is not in this version)

Overall, I rather like it. Biggest concern is going to be the sheer amount of pages to have to delve through. On TC, it's a limited playerbase. When i logged in to check it out, it looked as if 4 Weapon vendors were registered, and there were 4 pages of weapons. Imagine on a Live server what that number is going to reach.

I don't have a vendor myself on TC, so i would like to see if 2 things are in the system, if someone has one, please respond:

Did the ability to do a localized Auction on your vendor make it in? And how easy is it to add and removea vendor from the Search?

Thank you Devs for listening to our Concerns, and responding with a system that addressed most of them. I guess I can now remove most of the skill boxes I am using now, and free up some points for Combat skills, since all I really need now is Novice Merchant and hook my vendors into the Bazaar Search.

City shuttles are broken on TC at the moment so I can't easily get back to check the auction thing, but the radial menu on the vendor has an "add" and a "remove" option.
Existing vendors are off by default, new vendors are on by default.

What about the title problems? Can we get someway of searching by the actual item default name rather than the created name. Otherwise as it appears currently we will still have the wars between items called "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dx2 pistol" and "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dx2 pistols" trying to get to the top.

It works just like the bazaar, so you click down to the type of item you want and then you get a listing. Some people will likely start naming stuff like that, but y'know, I don't want something named AAAAAAAAAAA VK, and I'll skip over it anyway and look for "Vibro Knuckler." Under V.

There are no added features to the vendors themselves except the ability to make your vendor a bazaar pickup spot. No aditional features for merchants are included.

LOL you know its coming though and we'll have to wade through all that. I just thought maybe if it would use a defualt name or have a way to switch between would give us a tool to eliviate some unneeded aggrevation.

I don't have an account on TC in the right situation to test this so I was wondering if someone on TC Ahazi or prime who are in a player city with sales tax can see how its working. How does the system regualte city sales tax. Does it appear on the bazaar as the listed price without the tax or does it list the price including the tax. Some merchant dependent cities might be interested in knowing for sure.

I look at it and stilll see to many problems. It really seems as if we are substutuing one broke system for a new broke system. I truly wish they had taken the chance with the back-lash last time and improved the entire system bringing this function in. That is improved the categories and sub categories and the system lag to teh bazaar itself. Currently without all the vendors in the galaxy ebing interefaced the interfac of teh bazaar is slow especially in places like coronet and theed. Man its going to be lag like never before hitting the bank/bazaar are in coronet on some of these larger servers. Its sad but for lag sake, that is to avoid the nasty lag,is the real draw now for a well kept store. /shrug i just don't know that this is the right move at the right time. There was so much more i thought was more pressing of issues for the merchant and vendor system.

Bed is screaming for me, so no logging into test tonight..

But my question, you can browse by item, veiw price by description,

What about Purchasing from Bazaar terminal, and Where does retreival happen?

These are my two curiousities for the night.

Are we able to buy from the bazaar listing,
and if so does it 'transport' to the bazaar,
or must it be 'picked up' from our vendors?

See you all in the morn, cant wait to get loaded in and check this, glad to see that you cannot browse from personal vendors.

You can buy the item from the bazaar. You get a waypoint in an email and you go pick it up from the available tab at the vendor.
