Ok, yesterday I got a mail saying that my shop was now part of the nearest town, and because of this i now have to pay tax on everything. I read that you cant pack up with a house with vendors in it, so how, apart from spending a lot of time moving everything bit by bit, can i get out of this? Any way majors can dis include a house or anything?

Sales tax is added onto the price of your items, you don't actually pay it out of pocket.

In fact, I think it's bugged and the money goes to you instead of the city.

The net effect is that your items cost more.

Your building maintenance fee will probably go up a little bit, too.

If someone did this to my lightsaber shop, I'd be pretty irritated. It didn't even occur to me that this could happen...

Maybe I should just set up a town there myself, just to be safe. But I just started a town yesterday somewhere else. And I'm betting they won't let me be mayor of both. Maybe my jedi can be mayor of the other...

It does thake the piss somewhat, in not overly bothered if i did have to pay the ectra, my point is i either need to move my whole shop, or reprice everything to get it back to what i wanted stuff to go for.

Yeah... I had the same problem...except I was already in a town and my mayor suddenly decided to put a sales tax on everything (even though it indeed doesn't deposit in the city treasury). I watched as my sales dwindled for 2 weeks; then I packed up and moved. Painful yes. Perhaps you should enlighten your new mayor that in fact the tax does not work and request for it to be removed. Otherwise, any high priced items you have will be heavily taxed. Or you could go through the trouble of repricing all your items belowwhat you have them set at now (so thatthe tax adds up to equal your target price)(target price / 1.XX, XX = your city sales tax). I don't know if you'd have to reprice them again if you have to sell them from the stockroom later on. Best bet is to consult the mayor and petition for it to be removed.

Good luck... this is why I don't support shops in towns. I'd say politicians are greedy...but then...so am I lol.

And if your mayor disputes your sales tax bugged claim, direct him to the politician FAQ in the politician forums. It's in there.

The number is mathematically insignificant.

Not all politicians are greedy. I'm paying 100k for each citizen to move in, and I'm buying votes at 100k a pop. Immoral, possibly. But not greedy. I figure it'll cost me a few mil per week to own my city. I should be able to get my master politician badge by Christmas for less than 50 mil.
