Thread: The Use of %TT in a Custom Ad Bark: Proof Requested (Take II)
The Friday Feature from last week makes the assertion that you can use the user variables like %TT to customize your custom adbark text with the targeted users name an information. (The Friday feature can be found here)
I have never been able to get this to work, nor do I have any knowledge of anyone who ever has. I have heard stories of people who have seen this in action (and swear that it wasn't the standard canned adbarks). So far no one has been able to show me a case where it is working and give me steps for how it is done.
The challenge to you is to show me how to do it. Show me someone who has done it.
My thanks to those of you who have already tested this and replied to the earlier thread.

They do different things but neither worked for me.

The original post seems to have been attacked by forum goblins so lets start again.

And yes, vendors have to target players. Try this to check it out:
1) Go to 3rd person perspective, and turn on camera lock.
2) Turn so you stand at an angle to you target.
3) Do and emote, say /bow, and you will you character turned thro words the target.
4) try turning you character with the numeric keyboard.... you will se that it no longer respond.
This is because your characters real direction, and the direction it shows no longer match. (you know just like you vendors after they greeted someone)

If you are talking about vendors who when you walk by them and they say your name, I have seen it many times.
The canned ones are the ones that say something like "You look like a crafting type, Bob." These work fine.
A custom one could be made to say "Hey, Bob! Come check out this new ub3r lewt that I'm selling"
...not that I'd shop anywhere that had their vendors saying that.

I think I have shopped somewhere with a vendor that said that.. without the "bob" part.. why would their vendors call you Bob anyway Elyssa???

I can only imagine that it's got something to do with their x-ray vision. Since they can see through walls to bark at customers as they walk by, they can probably see through people too and it's hard to make out detail when you can only see gear and bones.
Maybe I should start wearing lead-lined undergarments.

Not my personal tastes but whatever makes you feel good is fine with me...
