Thread: There won't be any change in crate and resource stack size

Official answer to the architect question this week.
I'm extremely disappointed because it was the best thing to do to prevent nerfing vendor capacity, and they don't really give any good reason for their refusal.
Oh well.
I'm happy they won't be changing this. I see no reason why people should be encouraged to horde millions of units of resources. It will just make new players have that much harder of an entry into a crafting profession.
This game is all about compromises. You cannot master all skills. You have to choose which skills to master with your limited number of skill points. Just like you are not supposed to have infinitestorage space. You have to make hard choices about which resources you want to keep and which to need toget rid of.
There are also crafting decisions you need to make regardingand logistics or factories output and resources. Moving and storing 1000 units of a sub-component should not be as simple as moving a 1 item crate.
Crafting needs to be challenging. And I salute the developers for not dumb-ing down the crafting system while at the same time turning it into a super-elite veteran-players club.

So the "challenge" of this game for crafters is to try to avoid carpal tunnel incurred by repetitive clicking and dragging? We don't get enough of that by doing the grind to master?
Personally, I'd rather spend my game time focusing on the mathematical challenge (however elementary) of analyzing resource quality and figuring out how best to combine my resources, ratherthan dragging items from one window to another, running from one building to another, and then doing more dragging from one window to another.
But I guess we all have our own preferred play styles. ![]()
Anybody remember when crates took 5 inventory slots? That was a realproblem.
I can live with 100k stacks and Crates the way they are.

I can live with it too, but it is annoying. If they want to maintain the current storage levels, I would still love to have a system where I can create bigger stacks, but each 100K (or part of 100K) in the stack takes up one inventory space. That way, I can't carry more, houses can't hold more, etc, but I don't have to look at 12 stacks of 100K when I have 1.2 million of some resource.
More importantly, if I have 1000 subcomponents that normally run in crates of 50, I can move a single crate of 1000 (taking up 20 inventory spaces) instead of moving 20 individual crates. Even in cases where I am simply moving from the output hopper to the input hopper of the same factory, the current system is annoying.

Thats not a bad compromise if what you are looking for is really just organization instead of item storage increases.
Pretty good compromise...I don't think most crafters areasking for more inventory or storage space, just a better means of handling their existing stacks of resources.

Small minds, small opinions.

Nope. Strongly disagree. Most crafters, at least the architects who asked for the question, want more storage.
There is no way for a crafter to have a house AND furnish it. Especially if your profession requires various named resources and not just bulk. And if your an Architect where it requires alarge numberof resources to make one itemcompared to other crafting professions, then space and storage is a definite issue.

I guess I was generalizing a bit too much. Obviously many do want increased storage space. Being an armorsmith and weaponsmith and one-time architect, I can certainly understand and appreciate the resource storage "issue".
Having said that, I would still prefer some sort of improvement in the way stacks of resources are displayed/organized/managed, before any storage capacity increase.

Rexan, no offense, but...you're not a crafter are you.
No offense taken. My alt character is a master weaponsmith and master merchant. I have played a master chef for a while. I also help my friends gather resources for the Doctor profession.
I've also made a couple 2x 100 units runs of rocket launchers. (based off a1000 run on Proton grenades). This type of run takes over a week of factory time in my 3 factories. Sure, it was painfulloading all of the thousands ofsubcomponents for the 13 factory runs that this required. But then again, I don't think making 2 sets of 100 rocket launchersshould be easy.
And I agree with you. I would love to be able tomulti-select items and drag them betweenhoppers. Same as I would like to be able to multi-select items and put them up for saleon our vendors at the same price. But that has no bearing on stack size or item count in crates.
