Thread: Vendor Bug: Old looking vendors

Yessss. It's cruel and inhumane. I spent hours trying to make a nice looking female Twi vendor the other day. Tailor type merchants generally make their vendors serve double-duty as vendors and fashion mannequins so I demand they look good! Bah! I went through maybe a hundred versions of horrible Twi girls before I got one I could live with. She has freckles and a big nose, but at least the rest of her was not painful on the eyes.

What got me was how they torment us with almost right! I'd get a fat Twi or a horrid color combo one, but her face would be absolutely lovely. Bah. Or I'd get one with a fabulous figure and her face would be the old hag. Bah! Or I'd get one with no boobs at all, a huge butt, and lime green markings on hot pink skin, freckles, teal lips, and evil red eyes. My husband started laughing at me because I was cursing out loud at the horrible Twi girls tormenting me with their ability to be more ugly than the last.

On my other Master Merchant char on Gorath, I was trying to make a Wookiee vendor for my son's Wookiee Master CH char to use as a loot vendor. After an hour of him sitting beside me saying, "No. NO! Ugh! OMG! No!" I got up, pushed him into the chair and told him to do it. He sat here for 2 hours until he finally got a decent looking Wookiee. Baby poop yellow and fungus green and fat seems to be their uber ugliness talent.

Ugh. Have mercy on us.

I noticed the same thing tonight almost every vendorI made was very old or just plain ugly. Also all the vendors seem to be swimming in my inventory, anyone else notice this or is it just me?

...but Tuesday Weld isn't a complete sentence.

LOL! The swimming bug. By any chance, were you on Lok? I seem to recall this bug being narrowed down to Lok. Heh, a Lok-al bug. Umm.... sorry. *regains composure* It might also happen elsewhere, but I can't remember for sure.

I know my master ID char also gets this bug, but only on Lok. My customers are swimming in the screen. It's hilarious.

Good thing the vendors I place have bright blue and green and purple make-up to cover up the wrinkles...

It's not a bug. Vendors are generated with random values for all their features. So while player characters get to choose their looks and almost universally pick very young, very slender, overly stacked/muscled toons, vendors will span the full spectrum of possible appearance - well over half of which falls into the "chubby" and "wrinkly" category. It's only gotten worse since the ID revamp added more, garishly colorful options.

It's damned annoying though, and the only way around it (as other posters have mentioned) is to keep creating and destroying vendors till you get one you can live with. Both merchants and ID's have been asking for a way to change vendors' looks, and I am sure it will happen eventually... but as both professions have had their "revamp" already I doubt it will be any time soon.

Pretty Pretty Pretty Please let ID's customize vendor looks if you are going to force us to use the interface that you do to make vendors. Another option would be to allow Master Merchants to customize the vendors appearence like we do when we make our own characters as a newb. When someone wants a change the ID's could come in and change them. So both professions would be more than happy.

The current way to "choose a vendor" is not a choice at all. I love being a Merchant/Tailor and that won't change, however, it should not take someone 6 + hours to create 3 "decent" vendors that we can "live with". As someone pointed out earlier... Tailors use the vendors as a way to show off their talents as a tailor. How on earth can we do that if we are only given old, chubby, flat chested, big butt vendors???

I've been a vendor for a long time now... but recently when I changed locations for a couple of vendors they generate looking old and wrinkly???? Is this a bug anyone else is encountering? This happened after publish 10 and the merchant fix.
Can somebody please tell me what is going on with this?

Most of them spew out downright horrifying to look at. Its a little mini-game of examine, scream OMG! and see how fast you can make it through the destroy option.

I just mastered merch last night and decided to redo all my vendors....big mistake. I lucked out with one beautiful Twi and then it all went to crap. Bah!!! I gave up getting anything that looked "ok" and just stopped. I'll try again tonight.

You know it's bad, or a mini-game, when you have to make a "/createvendor" macro.

Is there a macro to create vendors?

I'd like to automate this so I just click the macro on an ugly vendor and the macro destroys the ugly vendor, creates and names a new vendor and examines it. All I'd have to do is make one click for each new vendor.

Just having some of the commands in a macro would help.
