Till your vendor gets destroyed, and do you lose all the items that are on it?

I got an email this week, but I had just had some business this past weekend on the vendor, so I'm not really sure why I got the message?

I've got Novice Merchant if that helps anything...

The short answer is we don't know for sure. The time from the last time you "touched" it is supposed to be 2 weeks. The emails seems be be coming out after about a week. That would lead me to suspect it will be about another week.

Well, I'm better than dirt! Well, most kinds of dirt.
I mean, not that fancy store-bought dirt.
That stuff's loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff.

ok so if I just use the vendor once a week, it won't go away?

what if I go on vacation or get hit by a hurricane (since north carolina is always the secondary hot spot for hurricanes other than florida).

Seems you would be out of luck then

We're trying to get this "feature" removed since it hurts merchants more than it benefits us (I only see one very small benefit in it, for some could use it for griefing, so I'm not going into details here).

Vendor should be stocked, and it should be paid for then it should be safe. 2 weeks after the last item times out it should be removed. (thats how it should be, not like it is now)

EDIT: Woohoo I can edit! *bounces around in circles*

Indeed they will.

And yes, it's insane.

Which is why we hope something will change : I think everyone agrees that two weeks is too fast.

I absolutely agree that this "feature" should be removed. It's the stupidist idea in the world. If maintentance is paid, andI have the skills to use the thing, the vendor should never be deleted. I don't even care if the vendor is empty. If I have the skills for it and am paying for it, deleting it is just wrong. Deleteing it even if I have items on it is so wrong that it defies all common sense.

Do we delete peoples structures because they haven't walked in the house in more than 2 weeks? Of course not. The game deletes structures if the maintenance isn't paid. Vendors should be no different.

two years is too fast. the only thing that should ever cause a vendor to be deleted is lack of maintenance or lack of skills, so far as I am concerned.

I think two weeks for an EMPTY vendor is fine.

Nothing on sale, nothing in the stockroom, empty for two weeks.

That's over 10 weeks for a vendor to delete itself.

If it's been neglected that long, it's obviously not being used and is just taking up space in the database.

If the player that owned it wants another one, there's nothing stopping them from making a new one.

If they wanted to keep the old one for sentimental value, they should have checked on it more often.

We can agree to disagree on that. I could live with knowing that they'll delete an empty vendor after two weeks. I would be annoyed, but I could live with it. I'm thinking in terms of my custom orders vendor, who is sometimes unused for weeks at a time, but is nicely clothed and placed. But if the devs want me to fondle him during those weeks when I'm not taking custom orders, I guess I could live with that.

But at least we agree that deleting a vendor that has stock is ridiculous. I can't see any point in continueing to sell anything if that's the way the game is going to work. I do want to take two weeks off occassionally. And a game that is going to delete all my hard work every time I want to take a little time off.... I don't think that's a game I want to play. I really don't.
