Thread: Any reason to have more than ONE vendor per store?

I went to the store of a very prominant (and pretentious, IMO) tailor today. He/she had 5 vendors in the shop! Each one was placed right next to eachother and each sold different types of clothing items, but there were probably 10 or fewer items on each Vendor. Well, if you're trying to be organized to help your customers, that's great, but it seems far wiser to me if you have several homes and multiple planets, each one having ONE merchant. The reasons are obvious.

This brings up a few questions:

-Is there any reason to have more than one vendor per store (title)?

-Like is there a limit to how many items a vendor can hold, or the category of items?

-This guys Medium Corellian house had FIVE vendors, I counted...but I thought that the limit was 4. Am I missing something?

So thenhe or she wouldhave to monitor and maintain the inventories of places on several planets, right? Travel costs would at least be noteworthy, and the time involved to go from place to place is a lot to invest as well.

If he/she becomes one of the best tailors in the galaxy, then customers will come to the product. They will seek it out and probably will be at least slightly impressed by the organization and ease of use provided.

That's my best guess as to his/her intentions.

- Well, he is probably just showing off. There is no need per se...but, each vendor can be placed on the planetary map with the right skill...so having more vendors also means more spamming of the planetary map...more advertising space.

- I have not reached the limit of a single vendor. At least 40 items so far. No limit on category.

- You can have up to 6 vendors actually.

Organization and multiple shops. Do your customers really like wasting their time going thru 3-4 complete sets of armor and dozens of melee weapons just to find a rifle? No. So move armor to it's own vendor and melee and firearms. When you go to your local mall do all the shops sell out of 1 spot? No. Just my 2 cents. FYI - I've gotten a TON of customers who like how the vendors are done. They can grab whatever they need in seconds this way. Also makes the place look better then 1 vendor.

1 vendor for guns, 1 vendor for melee, 1 vendor for power ups and upgradekits etc.........

No need to clog up 1 vendor with a bijillion items, thats what the hiring branch is for

I currently use 3 vendors in my shop...

Womenswear

Menswear

Wookieewear

Just makes it a little easier for people to browse through. Now if there were more filters under each category, I might not use 3... if we could add subcategories under clothing, like pants, shoes, hats, etc, would make all my extra vendors unneccessary, but right now, makes it easier for my furry customers not to have to cycle through 80 pairs of pants they can't wear, and all the dresses, shoes etc, and just click on my WookieeFashions vendor =)

Makes sense to do that with clothing. The filters aren't too good in that product category. I'm not sure if it makes sense with weapons since the filters are OK. What might make sense is a vendor for base professions (brawler and marksman) and a vendor for the elite/hybrid professions. That way a carabineer doesn't have to wade through a listing of DH17 carbines to find the Elite carbine.

And finally, he if you as a merchant want to have high overhead, so be it. Personally, I also would expand to other planets if I thought there was a market.

What high overhead? I have 5 vendors and pay 1 cred per hour on them each.

I keep multiple vendors to make it a bit easier for folks to find what they are looking for, I have one vendor that carries nothing but Melee weapons and another that carries nothing but Firearms.

Guys isn't there a search thing like on the bazzar? Why in the world would you need 5? vanity I mean really like your cusotmers can't search threw it just like they do the bazzar with the side bars. Unless you put things that fall in the same catagory like rifles/carbines/pistols all on different vedors then it serves no purpose... though you may get more XP :0

Yes, there is good reason to have more than one vendor -- If you are selling more than one category of product.

You can list each vendor planetary-wide and galactic-wide when you raise your advertising skill. Each vendor can be listed under their rightful category: Clothing, Components, Housing, Weapons.

This is much better than carrying everything on one vendor and only being able to choose one of these categories to advertise under.

Hope that helps!
