Hello I don't post much but I play a master merchant on test center and was wondering how the new changes will affect the vendors I have. From what I've seen the merchant class is going to be no more and I'm ok with the risk of my stuff poofing during the rollback but was wondering if my vendors will still work in the new system?

I was just wondering more or less the same thing. Will Merchant even be a profession? Or will it be a function all "Traders" will now have?
Excerpt from f13.net: CLICKY
Quote: ... Ok, so I'm here at SOE's Austin studio and I've played the new build of SWG which is going to be pushed onto test on Friday...with no real press. Basically they went through, ripped out 80% of the classes, left in the following: Force Sensitive, Bounty Hunter, Officer, Smuggler, Commando, Spy, Trader (all the tradeskills - 4 base sets now - Domestics, Structures, Munitions, Engineering), Medic and Entertainer...

Real good questions all. Plus how does it affect the number of vendors/items/etc?

I am Master Merchant and Master Bounty Hunter and combat level 55. Does that mean I wont get a full respec since I'm not level 80?
Also what will happen to all my vendors and items on them? (I have alot ofstuff worth money on there can't afford it to just vanish on the 15th)

This has me worried to. I'm a master arch, master shipwright, master artisan with 3404 merchant. With all my toons, I have every crafting profession covered in this game. I'm not sure how these changes will affect me. What I'm going to do is remove all items from the vendors before these changes go live.

I too am very worried about my stuff going poof. Can we get an answer from the correspondent on what will happen with our vendors? Alot of us crafters have a ton of storage in the vendors.

For us to get an answer from the correspondant, she would have to get an answer from SOE, and they would have to get an answer from whoever developed the game (I'm guessing LucasArts?). Not going to happen. She can make up stuff though...
And if she's going to make up stuff, then why not just believe the stuff I make up:
"All vendors will become NPC Meatlumps. You will have to kill them to get your stuff back. But they'll have wandered out of your shops. So go around killing the meatlumps in your area to retrieve your items. Some of your items may have proliferated among other meatlumps, so you may have to search for a while to find all your items. Don't forget to raid the meatlump spawns near Coronet. It may be worthwhile to hire a ranger to help you track them down. Oops - I mean hire Princess Leia, since rangers don't exist any more either. They became Ragtag Loons. If you have trouble recovering your items, then just remember that you have 9 respecs to use on your character. Have fun."
Feel better?

There was a post by Tiggs earlier saying if you had a vendor when NGE goes live, you can keep it even if you are a combatant. I'l going to take my combat guy up to get a vendor now... free skillpoints...

That's as good an answer as any.

*pokes around in the dark cloud looking forthesliver lining*
What if...
Since we won't be able to dabble or be a hybrid class anymore, and you can't be a Swordsman/Merchant...
and if being a Trader means Merchant has been rolled up into it along with Crafting, and all traders will be crafters and have vendors and the higher level Trader you are means more vendors, etc...
Won't that mean all the combat types who had just enough merchant to have a loot vendor... will be gone? Won't they have to make deals with Traders to sell their wares now?
Wasn't that one of the things on our wish list for ages and ages? To make merchant a true Traders class and not a sideline for loot dealers?
Hmm? As good a guess as any?

Link for where you got this information? Please?? I am also concerned about my vendors, as I just got done stocking an entire mall on Tempest, and have storage and retail vendors on Valcyn.
