Some time ago Thunderheart asked us to come up with 10 questions. Those were intended to be answered all at once but it just became too big of a project to get to all 38 correspondants 10 questions so he is now answering them ever week on Wednesday (yea its a little after Wednesday this week). The goal is to answer a question from each profession every other week. Our first question obvious as it is the most talked about subject in the forum and no matter what your position is on the matter the question is valid. The full list of questions and answers can be found here:

Merchant: Currently there is a lot of debate about the fact that there is no skill point check for managing vendors. Is it the intent of the development team that vendors operate normally even when owned by players who no longer have the Management skill required to place that vendor?

It was never intended for players to be able to keep and manage vendors after surrendering the Management skill boxes used to acquire them. This is scheduled to be fixed in a future publish and we want to upgrade vendors also, but it’s a bit early to start talking about that.

Thanks Doc!

Just knowing that it's not intended and the Devs are working on the fix makes a big difference!

According to JustG's post of a few weeks ago Publish 11 has a vendor revamp in it. I assume that is the current plan. I don't have any other information about that.

so it will takeat least 3 months to get our top 5 from 3 months ago answered....while each publsih brings new bugs and new issues

this is not communication....none of his answers answer anything or clear anything up...they are vaugue or just state that something will happen at some time in the future

at this point i just give up...they change the forum and make us go thru correspiondants and ask us for 10 questions nd Top 5 issues and them months later post meaningless answers to one question.

Actuall, Nauf it DOES answer that this IS a bug/exploit NOT the intended game design (and I mean exploit in the "vehicle regeneration" sense, so no one gets offended ).

Agreed, the communication is pretty bad. EVERY profession has felt it. The smugglers are getting their revamp next patch. We have NO IDEA what they have planned. They haven't even hinted at what they're doing to us, and we've got some rather complex game play issues (like where exactly is the smuggling?). So I agree, the communication around here is very frustrating. But it beats other games that just drop the bombs on you, if they bother telling you about them at all, and change is only made if enough people whine (and if you think that's what's going on this board, go try and influence design and policy for EQ or UO as a player).

WE ALREADY KNEW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION 2 MONTHS AGO!!!!!!! (and even when its "fixed" it will benefit me in no way whatsoever)

what i am just disgusted about is that generally all of kurts answers where non-answers...vague, evasive or meaning less...or stating that X will happen at a "later date"...nothing was really helpful at all

they have created this convoluted system of going thru correspondants and usning the specic forums and then change it every month....

many people are disgusted and are saying they will not participate in these "5 issues, or 1 question type BS again...its pointless...

in another couple of months they are going to only be getting feed back from a very small minority of people who choose to still participate on these boards and i think the game will suffer

If Kurt can not answer the 10 questions or the Top 5 Issues that he asked then he shouldnt ask for them...THese questions are not tough...it shouldnt take weeks and weeks to get an answer...even the correspondants cant get simple yes or no questions answered in any timely fashion.

It just isnt about this one question thing ---which will go on a month before Kurt cant handle it and it starts turning into 1 question every 3 months.

The last few andfew couple of publishes are pretty lackluster...the space expansion is 6 or more months away...SOE needs to start doing something to make its customers feel good...the game is matured...high end combat people have little to do, the markets are saturated with goods so crafters have little to do, more people are leaving than joining...are they giving us any reason to stick around

If i had to judge the game on where they are at now, I would say that its on course to become this years E&B...

I disagree that the 19 questions are a waste of time or that the answers were all that bad. Some of the answers are specifc. Some of the questions are a little vague to be give specific answers. All in all there is value to getting direct questions answered even if you aren't satisfied with the answer.

I do agree that they should have been answered sooner.

I do agree that it is frustrating that correspondants can't get simple questions answered right away. We talk all the time about how better to do that. The 19 Questions is a good way to get quick simple questions answered though if we limit the questions to things that can be answered and not try to push a bunch of feature requests in couched in questions. The answer to our question was NOT known 2 months ago. That is the first time ever that anyone in "red" has stated categorically that this would be changed." It may not matter to you. It might not even be a good idea, but the endless debate about the intent of the development team on this issue can end. For that I am happy for the answer.

I disagree about the recent publises too. There is a lot of content being added with each new publish over the past three months. The Geo cave and the Corvette are good content to be added. I think the Corvette has some issues (it is both too easy and too hard at the same time.) but it is ruch high level content with a decent reward for this type of game. The deathwatch bunker that is on TC right now has even more promise as it requires various professoins to actually travel there to complete the quest.

Naufragus, if you think your answer is too late, check out the tailor question, the question was put into our top 5 around december O.o

I'm glad they're starting to do a "few questions a week" thing, instead of "let all the profs shove 10 qustions into the box that might not get answered." The answers might not be satsifactory, but at least we know they're (sorta) keeping up

In hindsight the idea of asking TH to answer 10 questions from every profession at once was a bad idea. The questions take variable lengths of time to find the answer and 380 questions is a daunting task. TH was doing the questions on his own time after hours but that didn't work either because he had to have access to devs and designers and documentation to answer some of the questions. This new method will allow him to do questions in a smaller chunk and our chance of actually getting and answer go up.
