Thread: A problem with the Global Vendor Search

This happened to me yesterday and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else as well.

To start let me say I am a Master Architect and not a Chef...don't sell foods of any types and I never have!

I was in my shop crafting away when someone asks me where my Accarragm is (Action Food). I then ask her what the heck she's talking about and then she proceeds to tell me that she downloaded a waypoint to my vendor from the bazaar saying my shop is the location for this food she is looking for. She also says it is on my Harvester Vendor

Well, long story short...I don't like the new search, it's not good for me. This person just wasted a trip and precious playing time searching through my vendors looking for this food and walking away with only an apology from me.

Anyone else have anything similar happen to them?

More likely she got confused with the search screen and got the wrong waypoint but who knows.

I have actually seen this little bug in action....if you are on the main seach screen sometimes the description doesnt actually match what you get if you were to double-click on it and get the details about the object.

Go to the global search thing and play around with this I can get it to happen on a regular basis.

Be sure to /bug every little thing like this that you come across.

"This is a bad idea" was not received very well, perhaps they'll listen to "We told you so."

How about "We're going to camp the Issues Thread every day until you fix this?"

Just posted the following in today's Issues Thread:

Vendor search is completely borked:

Same items show on page after page.

Hundreds of items show on a page, but the screen only advances 100 at a time.

The samemerchants are always on page one, giving a huge benefit to them.

Catagorization stinks on ice.

There iszero relationship between Merchant skill and getting listed galaxy-wide.

Before, people couldn't find anything because they had to search too many vendors. Now nobody can find what they're looking for because the UI sucks.People generally give up after a couple of pages; grab a waypoint, and go there.

Right now,a merchant is either:

  • on page one of the listings,

  • the cheapest merchant in the galaxy by far,

  • in the CNet ring,

or going broke.

Fix this botched up cluster-flub or ditch it.

The merchants of all galaxies feel so utterly shafted and lied tobecause ofhow this system was implemented that they won't even bother coming here to share this with you. Instead they carp endlessly on threads in their own forums. I'll see if I can fix that.

If anyone doesn't like my last paragraph, too bad. Go vent on the issues thread instead of here. We've already proved they don't read and they don't listen to us here. We want to get things fixed, we're just going to have to make like the Smugglers and set up a howl until they do it. The problem is, we're crafters. Aggression isn't our first answer, because we're oriented to building and making, not attacking.

Well, it's time to attack. Get off your butts people. Elyssa can't carry this one by herself.

Yea because smugglers got such quick results with their childish and boorish behavior.

I have stated my opinion about this and the flaws in the system in just about every forum where it would be appropriate and a few where it wasn't. They know damned well what the problems with this feature are and they choose not to make it a priority to fix it. No amount of "camping" the Issues Thread is going to fix that.

Doc, at least they GOT results. Not fast, but they got them.

As for the deletion, I am not surprised.

Well I don't really have time to wasterallying the masses, especially if they don't want to be rallied. Sit around, carp in these threads, and go on being ignored.

As someone pointed out to me recently, these threads are not read by the devs--so all you do by continuing to complain here is holding a mutual crying party.

Smugglers got results? You mean the continuing postponement of their revamp and some In Concept stuff? And if I remember the issues thread correctly, they're meant to report issues with the current patch, not the previous ones.

The devs know vendor search is borked, they'll fix it but right now CU and RotW are high priority and no amount of posting is going to change that.

I'm a master merchant and it's been working just fine for me. My sales have gone up considerably. What I did was go on the search to see what people were selling and what they weren't and identified an area where there was a low supply and therefor knew what was needed.

Asa customer I like it as well. Saves me a ton of time.

Yeah, I went hunting stormtrooper chestplates today on Eclipse. I saw 4 in the galaxy. And all 4 were listed on all 15 or so pages that I looked throu. The search feature blows donkey balls.

I've checked the Vendor Search a few days ago.
Checked Factory crates (being a chef thats where my stuff is mainly), and first saw a list: 1-887 items or so. ugh... andit was really that much. ok i didn't count them all, but it was alot mor than 100

Ok, i clicked "Next Items" and ended with 100-974 or so, almost all items identical to the last page, so i clicked through them till i hit 800-1650, thinking it should be different now.
Well I suddenly saw names created by myself but on Corellia or Talus (I have no shops there). So I doubleclicked them, and they were Laser Knife crates or Powerups or some components or something.

I hope they fix this all soon... *sighs*
