Iama Master Artisan/Novice Merchant/Novice ChefIve really enjoyed running my shop and playing with merchant skills.

My wish list:

When I click on sell an item on the bazarr or on my vendor I want to be able to display my company information in someon each item without haveing to type it each timeeither though a cut and paste option where I can quickly paste it on each item description, a way to enter this info and have the game automatically add it on the end of ever items description box or at least have it remember what I typed as I go to the next item Iam selling so all I have to do it delete parts of the text that are different for that item. The game already remembers the price you chose at the top.

Display the uses of food and drink. As it is not a stack of 3 drinks and a stack of 8 look the same. If Iam priceing them diffrerently beacuse one has more drinks in it I want the customer to know that is why the price is different.

Add a new option when you are looking at an item to open a mail to the item creator so that way customers can easily mail for more orders or to ask questions.

A search engine on the bazarr is a MUST have. A good robust one that lets you search by keyword and allows you to narrow it down by catagory and price.

There are many bugs that I won't go into because others have posted about them. Bugs make professions unfun so please address them. I also think that merchant needs some new skills and services to fully flesh them out.

May I add my two? In my opinion they are HUGE since they are pretty much big incentive for people to pursue Merchant profession in the first place.

Hiring 4---allows you to dress you vendor. Wookiees will take and put on clothing, all other races will not. Suspect there is a bug not letting the dressed vendor 'unequip' current clothing.

Vocalization 2---supposed to be able to make our own greetings. Surprise, its broken.

My store would be 100x more impressive if these two issues were resolved.

Good list Jasarina, here's my addition(s):

  • Allow for preset item descriptions and prices (i.e. #1 will set price to 4500 and describe the item as "25 widgets in a factory crate")

  • Make vendors invincible! Please! (sorry had to do that one)

I could give lists and lists of things I'd LOVE to see... however, those have been mentioned so many times in these forums, I'll skip that for now... the main reason I'm posting is to counter one wish Jasarina had:

Add a new option when you are looking at an item to open a mail to the item creator so that way customers can easily mail for more orders or to ask questions.

This seems like a nice idea... however, for a TRUE merchants case (and not a merchant who is a merchant only so that they can sell their own wares... since each profession is supposed to be able to stand on its own without requiring a specific other profession, a pure merchant should be a possibility), this would be a bad thing... they would sell an item, and from then on, those people can totally bypass him if they wish. Sure, they can do this now, but it at least takesa small bit of effort.

I am an architect, I sell my deeds and furniture. However, I also run a premium general store, maintaining a stock of nearly every type of item, weapons, armor, food, spices, droids, etc. I don't hide the fact that these items are not my creation, and I often sell them for less than their creators charge for them (since in most cases I get bulk prices... I'm not undercutting that crafter, they are fine with the pricing, I'm a sure sale with no effort, while to get the higher price, they have to spend time going out, getting orders, haggling and otherwise dealing with people, with all the unpleasantness that can at times entail, including false orders, inability to pay in the end, fickle buyers who change their mind in the final stages, etc). Adding a mail button like this would negate that merchant from the loop... having the mail go to the [last] SELLER, on the other hand, would not be a bad idea. This would help self-sufficient crafter/merchants, and also pure non-crafting merchants (or the combos, like myself)... and the object creator will still be obvious, so there IS still the option to go straight to the source.. which in my mind is still too easy for a pure merchant to really flourish, but I still do fine even so. Most of those I buy from prefer to sell to me than to sell themselves, because I'm not so demanding ("is it done yet?" "Is it done yet?" "hey, are you done with it yet?" "nevermind, I'd rather not have the hot pink large house that you just finished, now", etc), and I'm a consistent sale... so there is still that to benefit a good 'pure' merchant.

But for other wishes...

Fix admin permissions to more easily allow a multi-merchant shop.

Fix vendor stockroom to be linked to area instead of merchant, so that it is easier to upgrade, move, rename, or otherwise maintain vendors

A step beyond the last: Allow renaming, moving, and other modifications to existing vendors (makes simply renaming easier, and makes getting hiring skill less of a pain, since you can use your new skills immediately instead of spending hours trying to remove and re-add all your items, and hope you can actually retrieve them all). Linking stockroom to area should help with this... I think the reason you can't move vendors once initialized is, the items are linked to that exact coordinate, and only vendors in EXACTLY that spot will have the items (possibly even with the same name, not sure)... if items in the sales and offers areas were linked to the database ID of that vendor, stockroom items were linked to the general area (like bazaar terminals in a city are all linked), and the vendor itself was modifiable (can change race, sex, name, type, etc, all by modifying the existing database row instead of having to create a new vendor), all of these things would happen.

The numbering thing mentioned above... it affects ANY value that is represented by a number on the item in the inventory, except for Resource Stacks... resource quantity is properly displayed, but factory crate count, food uses, stim uses, repair tool uses, etc, are all not shown.

How about fixing the bug with the vendors not releasing the items once you bought them. I can click on a vendor item to retrieve and sit there for a hour and nothing would happen... Ok not an hour but 15 minutes was the real time noted.

Also if you have not noticed the ad barking will stop after a while and you have to go back into the vendors to set it all up again... This should be changed/fixed...

Actually I just thought of something...would be handy for merchants, but also many other classes...a permanent Email message that you could send out to whomever you wanted. You would type it out custom like a AFK message, and when you wanted to send it to somoene, you merely fill in the recipeints name.

Example:

Hi thanks for showing interest in So and So's droids! We have several to choose from on our vendors, location 4000 4000 (wp included). I

Good day! Yes, I am a master tailor, and yes i take custom orders! please visit my store at 100 100 and then email me with your order. Turn around time is 24 hours

Price lists for So and So's Armor and Weapons
(list items and prices)

etc etc etc. Basically a form email that one wouldn't have to type over and over every time someone asks "can I get a wp to your shop? what do you sell? how much is?"

Jasarina, I thank you for the input. In the future can you please add your comments to the post I start for this reason. I use the feedback I get on my weekly post to create "The list" for merchants. I respect your input, but I want to keep it together

I could not disagree more. As a merchant you are selling yourself and your service. Being as professional as possible is very very important. People remember that sort of thing.

Is it really that difficult to delete the > to have the professionalism? I don't have any problem doing it, only get about 5 or 6 in each of me emails.
