Thread: My Suggestions

I posted this in the new forum's but figured i'd throw it up here as well. Also just added one thing.

I'm just going to get to the point. The smuggler profession. Fix it. Granted it's not as bad off as some of the other classes (ie..DE's, pikeman) but something must be done. At the moment the Smuggler class is a class you only mix and mingle with other's to either benifit from the cash flow from slicing or spicing and from the benifits it gives to pistol users. As a Master Smuggler i have nothing that distinguishes me from someone who just mingles in itto set up a "good" template. I would like to look at the Smuggler tree and show you what i would like done to make this class a bit more fun to play and fair for the Master Smugglers out there.

1. Underworld - Something more needs to be put into the underworld tree. Faction benifits do not do much for those smugglers that don't do anything with the GCW. Not to mention anyone who feels like just getting the smuggling proffesion can get this tree and sell faction points without having to get Master Smuggler. I feel that you need to move selling faction points to Master Smuggler. There also needs to be something in the Commands and abilities box telling you what you get for this branch of the smuggler tree. And of course somehow add smuggling into this branch.

2. Slicing - Again anyone dabbling in smuggler can get this tree and benifit as much from it as a Master Smuggler. Yes Masters get a better % but that really doesn't add much. My suggestion is to move Clamps to master and putting FAN's into Slicing IV. This would help give the Master Smuggler some uniqueness when it comes to slicing. Alsoputting the experimentation to use, let us make the quality of tools we use effect the slices. And possibly raising the amount of XP one needs to hit slicing IV. If i remember correctly the only thing that took time is finding the containers to slice. After that everything was downhill and took maybe a few hours of grinding out cdef pistols to hit slicing IV.

3. Dirty Fighting - Again There is nothing in Master Smuggler that seperates from anyone who is dabbling in the smuggling class in this branch of the tree either. My suggestion is to make Last ditch and/or Feign Death Master Smuggler Only. Also, i beleive you need to add some type of bonuses to pistol AND unarmed, but make it so they do not stack with other pistol and unarmed bonuses. Also Maybe possibly adding a Smuggler only pistol and/or unarmed weapon?I also think that some type of unarmed specials should be added to this branch as well.

4. Spice - Again there is nothing in Master Smuggler that seperates them from anyone just dabbling in spicing. I beleive that Experimentation should be the FIRST thing added, right now "jo shmo" who felt like making a quick buck can get this skill and get the same results a master smuggler gets, and then more then likely ends up undercutting us just to make a little cash. This is RUINING THE SPICE ECONOMY and needs to be changed. Master Smugglers should make the best spices around, period. I also think that Muon / pixie / Booster should be taken from spices IV and added to master smuggler. Either move around the other ones to accomodate spice IV or add three more. Also raise the amount of XP you need to hit Spice IV...i grinded to spices IV in one day.

These are just suggestions and of course would be great for others to add on to or just throw your opinion out there. I'm just asking you to give Master Smugglers something to distinguish the "jo schmo" out there who wants to make a quick buck. Right now the smuggling class is just a proffesion to dabble in. Please change this and make it fun for us again.

Lesse.

Underworld needs help. Several threads addressing it currently.Kav's Smuggler Vision is a good one, as are many of the ideas in my own thread titledAnother Skill Tree byCaylin and its1.2 incarnationor some darn thing like that.

Clamps to master, fans to slicing 4? I disagree, mostly on the basis that its been this way since the beginning, and the market is flooded with clamps. It would not accomplish much.

Fan's aren't created because anyone can use clamps, so what we would need is certifications to limit people to fans till they reached slicing 3 or 4, then allowing them to use clamps. Yah it bites for all those slicing containers, but they need to up the drop rate on those anyways, which is a differant issue.

I do agree on quality affecting something in slicing....

Spice, lots of people are looking at spice, trying to bring a few ideas up in a thread of mine, but other than that, no one has really provided examples of what to do with it. Just what *should* be done with it, without examples. Feel free to redesign spice and tell us what you think. I have a thread on this as well if you want to put your input there, titled "spice, what can we do if we keep experimentation? thoughts?." thats about the only thread I've seen with something new posted about spices, rather than someone saying keep/don't keep spice experimentation.

Raising xp on spice is probably a good idea. Its done very easily, but then if we make spice worthwhile, it would be easy to get, but hard to master, which I find is more appealing by far.

Most of your observations are spot on, I'm just voicing my opinion as to what I thought were valid options, as were you.

Well i didn't want to make an extremely long post i just wanted to voice my opinion on the fact that the Master Smuggler has nothing to distinguish itself from the regular Smuggler.

Not trying to put you down here but I think you aren't receiving many responses because most of what you have said has been said over and over and over again. The issues have been the same because nothing has been done to change the smuggler profession so until then most people are probably burned out on this subject. And of course the devs keep saying there will be changes coming but its been what 2 or 3 months since the devs said that smugglers needed some loving and nothing's happened yet.

Yep, some ideas, but not really any solution to solve them. I think that is the devs problem. "How to make smugglers actually smuggle." Now with the thread about being "scanned" for illegal goods by imps, maybe thats how they will implement true smuggling. As for now, I carry most my slicing supplies in my droid. Hopefully either smugglers can easily get pass the scanners or hiding in droids would work. Moving the elite spices would also be a good idea to add some extra benefit to be master. But what I really hope they do is have a smuggler pistol cert for master. I'm tired of the same ole pistols. As for the unarmed branch, I either think they need to add some stuff in dirty fighting, or get rid of the unarmed totally. If they do get rid of it, I remember somebody saying it will be a good idea to add the business tree for it. Which I think would be a good replacement.... Ideas?

I do not know if the devs read posts in this forum, but I will post my suggestions here anyway:

1) PLEASE MAKE A ROLEPLAYING SERVER! I BEG OF YOU! AND PLEASE ALLOW US TO MAKE MULTIPLE CHARACTERS ON THIS SERVER! Please, devs, consider us.

2) Put some lighting in the cantinas! It is so dark and gloomy in there!

3) Allow us to delete unwanted badges.

Well...

That's it.

I know you probably have seen a lot of these topics, but here are my suggestions on how to greatly improve the Merchant class.

1. Allow sellers to select multiple items to sell at the same price. As a powerups vendor, I restock with up to 200 crates a day, it get annoying to individually place each crate.

2. Allow commissioned sales. This would all you to set a certain price to pay another player when the object is purchased.

3. Allow discounts based on player and guild. This would greatly save me a lot of time by allow certain players or all players a discount without individually going in and discounting each item.

That's it for now.

Excerpt from a list provided to the devs in April/2004

4Game PlayVendor Interface Enhancements
The Vendor interface is clunky and inefficient. The search features need to be enhanced to allow more robust searching, the offers and stock room interfaces need fewer clicks and batch processing support to allow large scale sales and re-pricing efforts to be done with a minimum number of clicks. The offers system itself needs to be enhanced as well giving the supplier more slots to offer merchandise and more information to be captured (Suggested Retail Price etc)
5New FeatureConsignment Sales Support
Wholesale purchases for Retail sales is only one method of merchant-supplier collaboration. Another is consignment sales. Consignment sales is defined, for the purpose of this feature request, as items purchased by the merchant with little or no up front cost with the understanding that a split of the sales revenue will take place upon the sale of the merchandise. This relationship is desirable because it removes the financial burden
6New FeatureDirected Sales
Both for customer orders, PA or Factional specials etc the vendors should be able to allow a merchant to place an item up for sale that can only be purchased by the indicated party or group. (e.g. guld:WAH, faction:Imperial, Chataka)
