Thread: Best Merchant Idea EVER

OK its probably not...but its advertising !

I believe you should be able to loada crate (or multiple crates of the same serial) onto a vendor, set an item price and only be counted as 1 item per crate. This would make out life easier (as vendors) and customers who would only have one entry on the vendor per item serial number. When they buy it defaults to 1 item...but allows them to up arrow to more...even delivering multiple items in a crate (so if I buy 10 brandies I get a crate of 10).

Restocking will be excellent too.

Now this wont help armoursmiths who sell 'packages' of items...but thats another story, I think selling bags is fine and should count as one item. It also works around the storage problem which they have no solution for and only uber-doober crafters have heaps of gear and...well...they need it

Now add a resell button for a muliselect resell from stock-room. An item count and the ability to put something on a vendor for a given customer (custom offers) and we're cooking. Then Id be able to accept this item limit which will require me to stock less than I am now.

Pretty good idea. Not sure if its the best EVER. But its still pretty damn good.

To solve the container on vendor issue. I think there should be a "inspect contents option". Even if the contents count towards the vendor limit it would still be very useful not only for armorsmiths but also for anyone that would want to sell "packaged deals"; likenoobie master brawler or master marksman grinding kits.

Doesn't a crate already count as one item regardless of how many, i.e. brandys it contains?

Yes it does, but you can then only sell the whole crate to someone.

So if you have a crate of 25 items for sale, that's what you sell - 25 items. The idea would be that you load up a crate of 25 items (and why can't we have bigger crates?) and then a person could buy one item from that crate, or 5 items or 10... (or if you had multiple crates of the same serial item they could buy 47!)

Stunning idea tbh, I've seen it voiced before too, but that doesn't cheapen it IMHO it makes it better. I'd LOVE to see this implemented, but I guess that it would mean someone rewriting the way vendors work and tbh that's probably not going to happen any time soon...

Yes it does but my point is the customer could buy 1 item from the crate.

So you could open up 'pistols' in the 'weapons' category and instead of seeing a list 300 long (100 at a time) you would see a list 12 long where scatters would say scatter pistols Qty 22 Buy 1 5000ea. And you could buy just one.

We could get real fancy and havea crate price but c'mon leave something for publish 11

more than that actually. This is an often-requested feature and it's important to keep it out there. It would truly make the lives of a great many crafters and merchants much much easier.

Yes that are good ideas, and they have been posted many times before by different people.

Now when so many players can independently come up with idea like this, then why have SoE been unable to come up with something similar?

Cause writing the idea down on the forum is a lot easier than coding it?

I've submitted this idea before as one of the things we would like to get done. There hasn't been any comment on it so far. We need to revisit out list however since some of the items at the top are taken care of with Publish 10.

The restock button would be a Dream come true. I also think it would be cool if you could have a droid mod that would let your droid be a vendor. and that you would have to restock it with batteries every so often.

Or

You can set one vendor to roam the city (of your choice) and it will cost more but wouldn't it be cool to go to an NPC and it is a vendor.

Just more pie in the sky stuff ,...but one can dream

I did use the search option by the way. However after 3 attempts and being told too many other people are searching I gave up.

As for it being hard to code. Bah. Ive been in software development for 20+ years and let me tell you...no matter how you look at it...no matter what you do or dont know about Graphical User Interfaces, the

Vendor Interface

Factory Interface

Inventory Interface

Are, to be polite substandard. They lack obvious features that existed in games 10 years ago and have very little in good 'new ideas'. Now this initself is no great sin, but when you look at how fantastic the rest of the game looks and add in the excellent (generally) crafting system this shows a poor attention to fundamentals.

I believe it has been thought up before, but refreshing it is to read it again.

Similar idea: Put 500k of resource in vendor set cpu and customer can pick amount they want.

What I really want, RESTOCK ALL button.
