Thread: It would be unwise... what real-life doctor would react like that?

Am I not as a doctor obliged to treat any patient, regardless of skincolor, religion, nationality or faction? Isnt being a doctor being an altruist, that puts himself second to any of his/her patient, and treat them no matter what?

I feel its very strange that I cannot heal some patients that visits me at the medical center, just becouse they have choosen a side in the war. This just stops me from being able to roleplay my character, and being able to decide for myself how I ethically make my decisions.

I think, that as long as someone have the Medic profession, he/she should be able to heal anyone, even if I am a rebel, and he is a imperial, or the other way around.

Best Regards

Besides that, I also have an annoying sig that looks like part of the post.

Roleplay takes a backseat to game mechanics in this instance.

A neutral being able to heal either side of the GCW will lead to blue healers that can wander about the battlefield, healing anyone at will, without consequence. This would be imbalancing for PvP and the GCW as a whole.

I tend to agree with JemyM here, It always has frustrated me that I could not heal somebody because they were Overt (reb or imp). It should be my choice, but for every action there should also be an opposite reaction, If I heal a Rebel, I should get a 5 minute TEF. The choice was mine and now I have to pay the of my actions.

Make it like when you surrender a box or destroy something, you have to type yes when a box pops up ans says, "Are you sure you want to heal Luke Skywalker, he is an Overt Rebel and doing so will cause you to become Overt for the next 5 minutes or so. If you still wanted to type yes.

This way it is my butt on the line if I want.

Just my thoughts..

Well it's your choice to be neutral...otherwise you should be able to heal overts of your faction.
Neutral means out of GCW and by extansion out of pvp (except duel). Healing guys of the opposite faction by getting a tef will only lead to chaos (imps shooting imps and so on...and I'm sure there is lots exploits behind such a case), that's not really an option.

I think it might make more sense if there was a warning like with sampling radioactives, which you can over-ride. But if you heal a TEF or overt, you should get a TEF (like if you were a covert of that faction healing). That's just my opinion though.

I agree with this, the only reason I believe it doesn't happen is that going by what the devs say regarding TEF, I don't think the TEF system itself is flexible enough to support this at the time being. I can see many places where the devs would love to do something that involves rewriting the TEF system, so maybe oneday it will get upgraded to the point where anyone can be given a TEF based on actions they take, even neutrals... one can only hope (and pester the devs!)

Okay, if they are worried about some unscupulous medic wandering a battlefield healing both sides (somehow, I'm having trouble seeing this as unscrupulous, but I'll take it on faith), limit to the med centers. The system already knows if I'm there or not. Allow unrestricted healing in the med centers. You might actually see some traffic through those things again.
