Hey all,

I have just decided to go CM / Carbineer ... And i had a few questions for you all

1. Since i have medic first, what is the best way to level this?

2. The first things you can make are Stimpack A's and a Biological controler and something else.. Does anyone know what you do with the other two things besides the stimpacks?

I went Human ... lots of fun so far but its hard to stay alive ;P

One last thing ..how do u get your resources? Do you all buy them or what?

I would say get out in the field and HEAL folks for the best medical exp. There are many folks who sit in medlab all day (or even the cantina) to suck up exp. But field healing is the way to go.

The 'other things' in your datapad are used in any medical crafting item above "A" level. For Stim A you need organics/inorganics, for StimB you need organics/inorganics and a Biological Effect Controller, a Chemical Release Duration Controller, and a Liquid Suspension. I would suggest once you make enough A stims to have a good supply that you make BC's, CRDM's, and LS's - you will need them once you can make B stims and wound packs. As a Combat Medic you will need the other items as well, Resiliance Compound and such.

For resources you can buy them or harvest them. I suggest harvesting them. Get a starter set of mini-harvesters (1 wind, 1 flora, 1 mineral, 1 chemical, 1 water) and that will keep you supplied for probably all of the Medic tree. After that you may want a Factory and many more harvesters unless you really want to buy everything you use (and you will need plenty of resources).

You don't HAVE to have artisan, but you will want it. Without it you won't be able to survey and know where to place your harvesters for max effectiveness. That's a stickler for docs/medics, very few people WANT to have artisan but we basically have to have it to place harvesters.

You can get personal harvesters on the bazaar usually for 1000 to 1500 each or you can order them from an Architect. You need the wind harvester to get power to run your others. All harvesters require maint money to work and power to function (wind requires no power to run).

Get survey devices on the bazaar. Get one for each type of resource you will want. They should be 50 to 300 each. Then (if you have Novice Artisan) survey to find the resource you want to mine. Sample that resource and check it's Overall Quality and Potential Energy. Both of those are what you need for medicine making. Once you find a resource that is acceptable to you, put the harvester there and pay maint/power. Then tell it what to harvest. Check back every other day or so and empty the hopper.

Resources will shift from time to time (usually every 7 to 10 days) so watch your harvesters and make sure they still have something to mine.

If you want to harvest MORE resources you can get bigger harvesters, but they cost quite a bit more than personal harvesters. There are 3 levels to each harvester and prices will run from 1000 (personal) to over 100k (large). Bigger harv's require more maint/power. But they all need only ONE lot to work. That's key if you have a house and a factory as well because you can run out of lots easily.

After you get your basic resources gathered and get enough to get your crafting grind done, I suggest changing to harvesting only one resource at a time and use multiple harvesters to stockpile it.

If you really want to make good medicines then you will want to get resources to make advanced components. Those will double or triple the effectiveness of your meds. What I do is put 4 or 5 harvesters down on a good advanced material when I find one worth harvesting then I stockpile it. Doing things this way I havenot had a harvester on the ground in2 weeks and have a stockpile to last me quite some time (20K+ of each advanced resource). That means no more annoying hours spent running planet to planet to do harvester maint.

Wow thanks. One last queston. Do i need to be anything other than novice artisan? I really would prefer not to waste any points.. So if i can do all of this with novice artisian that would be awsome.. (sorry im at work and a lil bored so im reading the forums )

Same here. Bored and on a conference call.

You only NEED Novice Artisan. More points into Survey will give you better range/better samples, but Novice Artisan will be the only one you have to have. And later on, those 15 points that Novice Artisan requires will be PAINFULLY needed. But if you want to survey you have to keep it.
