After acquiring the level I want with Smuggler and Pistoleer, I will have 51 skill points left (this is including the deduction for Novice Medic). If I keep the ranged weapon support (which I most likely will), I'll have 37 points left. Which branches of Novice Medic will give me the best use for healing while in the field? I'm not too concerned with speed, only getting lots of points back when needed, most likely after the fight is over.

If you can spare 43 points, I would say First Aid IV and Pharmacology IV; this will allow you to use C stims and heal well with them. That will mean you have to buy all your meds.

If you can only do 37 points (36 actually) then I would only take First Aid to level II and keep Pharma IV. That means your Injury treatment will be lower, but you can use C stims still.

Both of those mean you need to buy your med's but they will give you - in my opinion - the best use of the points you have to spend.

I was actually coming here to post about this. Thx for your excellent reply EwokMuffin.

I'm currently Novice Medic 4/2/0/2 so I craft Stim B's and use them frequently in battle since being a Pistoleer and near Master CH, my action tanks for me and my pets. I need to heal at least every 10-15 seconds with Stim B's (120-300 pt heals usually) and am pretty comfortable with my current system.

However, I'm wondering if there is a better selection with less skill pts I could use to free up for more pistoleer. It looks like I can go 3/0/4/0 with the same amount of skill pts and I'll have to buy and use stim C's. That seems kinda like a hassel, but if it's better than what I'm doing currently I'm willing to try it out. I just don't want to use up all the xp to switch around and find that my battle effectiveness has dropped.

Looking forward to some expert council!

Unless you just really want to make your own meds, I would say drop Organic Chemistry. The best thing you can do is to buy the meds from a master doctor.

If you get Pharma to where you can use C stims you can get them easily up to 450+ base heal with 40+ charges from a master doctor; in comparison, someone with just enough OC to start to make C stims will have much less powerful ones to use. I have seen C's on the bazaar as low as 170 base 22 charge. With crappy advanced components I am making 461/41 now.

I have a CH friend with First Aid IV and Pharma IV who is healing for 1200 with those 461base C stims.

But if you DO want to make your own, do everything you can to use advanced components. The time and investment it takes to get them is well worth it.
