Thread: use of faction pets

I'm thinking of creating an alt. on a different server and working towrds master combat medic and master doctor. I just wondered how effective it would be to go overt imperial and have three of the 9000 HAM (or whatever it is) stormtroppers to do missions with, while healing them from behind. Seems like a good way to work on medical xp without standing arounda med center, and still be making credits/faction points.

that sounds like it would work.

how do you get stormtroopers to group with you and follow you around?

It's just one of their commands just like attack, guard, etc.


One question though, do AT-ST's have a normal HAM bar that can be healed? It doesn't make sense, but I'm guessing it does.

do you purchase them from the faction recruiter or something?

thanks. i'd imagine that if you get them to group that you can use standard meds to heal them like a pet. i'm not 100% sure on that.

I was illogically healing an AT-ST with Stim packs tonight. Good XP

only problem is that their mind stats regen very slowly. However, they are good for heals as long as they have mind. Pets are great too; you can heal their mind, heal them with stims, and don't require creature handling skills depending on the pet. Plus, they don't die.

It sounds like healing pets will no longer give xp very soon.

no med xp for healing pets apparently, but using 3 Stormtroopers(Or the better ST Commando) to do your fighting for you while you stand behind and heal does work. I have one STC currently, he pretty much kills anything I tell him to. And I just stand there healing him.

I used 3 ST pets to take hits while I changed from Pistoleer to Rifleman and they worked quite well. They are slow as heck killing things though, even at 250-290 a shot they take forever to kill a 9k mob.With a laser rifle I could kill mobs before the 3 pets did. I got an ATST a couple days ago though and don't even bother with the ST's anymore.


But the ST's were very handy for keeping aggro (usually just having them closer and have them fire first will keep aggro on them) while I was shooting. This game has some really odd aggro rules, if indeed it even has any to start with. If I placed pets closer than me to the mob and let them get in one or 2 shots I never got shot by the mobs.


I healed them after the fight and when one got 70% or more mind I would store it till it healed.
