Thread: A little Courtesy, please?

I posted this on my home server board, but I thought you all would get a kick out of this. I'm also asking "Has this happened to you??" Enjoy.

Soooo...... I'm sitting in Kor Vella today, helping my poor, beat up, warriors. Somebody runs in, plops down on the floor and types "Heal me". I tell him to please wait, I'm working on someone else right now. He says "Heal me" again. I ignore him (or her), but I take a quick glance at his stats. He's got 23 Health, 17 Action wounds. As I'm healing the other person, I say "I'm sorry, you don't have enough wounds for me to heal you right now. Please come back later. I'm healing with B-paks." He says, "I'm wounded, Heal me now." I try to explain that I don't want to waste med-paks on such small wounds, and that if he waits until I have the other person healed, he'll probably be all healed up (yes -- I asked about his secondary stats too).

He had the nerve to call me an 8 year-old. Well, I'm 38, and even my kids know how to speak to people in a respectful and courteous tone. Apparently, he realized he wasn't going to get any luvin' from me, and he left.

The person I was working on started busting on the guy too, about courtesy and respect. He and I couldn't believe what just happened, and how rude some people are.

Well --- this is just a warning. If you treat me with respect and courtesy, I'll be more than happy to heal you (if you come in with reasonable wounds). Heck, I might even heal you anyway if I'm not busy ---- I can whip up some A's pretty quick. But if you come in with an attitude, forget it. You can sit there until hell freezes over as far as I'm concerned.

Please remember, we medics are here to help you. But first help yourself. Don't waste our time and VALUABLE resources. They are extremely hard to come by, especially if we are trying to locate and survey them for ourselves.

I hope this helps some of you to understand some of the crap that we face as Medics. And I hope that when you come into the med center you remember to say please and thank you (just like my kids would). Oh, and by the way - I never ask for tips. I made about 1200 credits in 4 hours today, for the people that tipped me ------ Thank you. That was enough to buy 500 organics, which will last me about 2 hours in the med center. I guess tomorrow I'll be out sampling for inorganics, because I ran out of those today. That means I won't be in the med center to heal some of you - - for this I apologize, but we gotta get inorganics somehow, right?

That why i always carry around a pack or 2 of action/health As...even those i primarily use B and Cs...just drop a A on them to shut them up...its not worth ruining my day over 1 charge of health A and action A and 40 secs....besides I usually try to get people with minor wounds out of the med center as soon as I can...its just easier that way...

Repthawg,

I want to thank you for that great laugh. It made my day! Those kind of people are hilarious. I had one like that once. He was impatient, called me a @#@## (must have been a pretty word that SWG filtered) and left. Don't let 'em get to you. Just laugh about it. He probably didn't understand the points system and thought he was almost dead.

Great story. Impatience is anything but virtuous.

I've noticed a disturbing trend. Now that the "newbie death" thing is turned off, I'm having to heal a greater amount of wounds and typically receivenothing more than a "I can't pay you because I have to go find my body." Moreover, these are usually the knuckleheads who are in a rush.

Has anyone started prioritizing patients based on advanced payment?

I have had people offer to put me on retainer or ask me if I had a insurance or health plan...

I have wound treat IV and crafting II so I make juiced Wound Cs that heal for 150-200+ so I tend to be very popular.

I'm too lazy and much too uncreative to figure out a viable plan for a health care plan..ne1 have any ideas for 1?

I've been mulling over the idea of an HMO. Let people sign-up for a flat fee (in credits or resources) that guarantees them coverage for a set number of days or maybe up to a certain number of points. The administration would be a hassle but it would at least cover the cost of materials.

An HMO? LOL... Minds are working around here today I see. Why HMO though? Why not have a choice between HMO, POS, PPO, PPA, etc?

Also, what if you join a guild? Should you get benefits?

Well..... thanks for your support. I'm sorry to see I'm not the only one this has happened to, though. Some people.........sheesh.

This is just a thought, not even sure if it's all that viable, but what about letting the patients buy their own woundpacks, you set the price, then they give their chosen medic those packs, get healed up, and then the med returns the remaining packs. That way they have already covered the cost of the patching up.
