Now here's a simple question. Why not be acombat medicAND a doctor? Of course I still have a zillion experience points to go before I have to decide anything. But I put the numbers in a spreadsheet and it looks like it's theoretically possible to do both (barely).

Yes, it is more than possible. There are quite a few of us that are MD/MCMs and the combo does have a certain complimentary nature. There are some problems with CMs right now, but especially if you like PvP their mind Poisons and Diseases can be very useful.

Just realize that you will be making a choice to either keep Artisan to do what surveying you can on your own for what are some pretty hard resources to get, or you'll have to find some other way to get those resources, like a supplier, PA-mates and so on.

If you don't give up Artisan you'll be pretty light on the combat side.

If you do give it up, at least you'll have enough points to get to level 4 in one of the weapon lines and, if you want it, the level 1 boxes in the other 2 weapons. That should help to give you a little extra oomph.

Yea, mostly cause it really sucks to not be able to fire a weapon w/o any oomph. But you can make a pretty good hybrid of the two and come up with something that can kick a little butt and heal almost anything.

You'll be pretty light on the combat side even if you give up artisan.

Doc/CM is pretty hefty skill point/wise (especially if you master all 3).

Question is..."Do you like to heal that much?" because you won't have the option to do much else.

The good part of SWG though, is that you can try stuff out, and always sell stuff back if you want to try something else out.. so you never get locked in to anything...

Try it, and see if it works for you.
