I believe pharmacology increases your "medicine use" level. Note: Even though you have the appropriate use you may not be able to use items such as revive kits as these require a novice doctor with 0/4/0/0 (if I remember correctly).

Novice Medic & Pharmacology IV are required for you to use Stim D's with a med use of 40.
