Thread: Suggestions for Medical Centers

Am I really expected sit around in a lonely, boring building? And if I get some actual interaction with other players, should I expect to be treated with indifference, unshared gratitude, or even hostility? Granted, most of my experiences serving in the medical center have been either positive or neutral, but on the whole, there is very little to attact healers to serve in the medical center.

At least in a cantina, people have the conscious notion that it's a social place. In principle, it's a place where you can expect to have recreational and necessary interaction with others - with the healers and other patrons. However a medical center provides a wholly different atmosphere. It's less condusive to socializing, crafting, and most importantly FUN. That's why we're playing the game in the first place, right? So I think medics and doctors should have more incentive to actually hang out here, and actually treat the place like a medical center. Some suggestions:

1.) More consistent pay. I know the medic community has been workin' on this problem for a while.

2.) Provide benefits for patients who actually act like patients. For example, sitting at a bed or removing armor. Anything to encourage them to not sit on the floor or duel each other for fun.

3.) Benefits for medics and doctors. Maybe a crafting station inside, or possibly even a GOOD one? Shorter timers for crafting? Better assembly/experimental results? Experience bonus? Less mind pool/wound cost on medical commands? (And going way out there...extra experimentation points?) I mean, this IS a building dedicated to medical affairs, so why does it provide so few benefits?

4.) As I've suggested before - something to temporarily ease the problem of battle fatigue. I realize that I don't know much about the game's developmental goals, but to me it's a serious mistake to make a fighter come back from battle and head to the cantina first. I mean, the concept of battle fatigue seems to me a psychological effect which is more suited to hinder a character's skills (hindering actual physical healing seems to me, at best, a secondary effect).

I know that there have been many other ideas to give medical centers more importance. I'd like to hear yours, and maybe get them all in a centralized place. I hate searching around.

Crafting has? I've never seen a thread stating that it's an issue. Though I haven't been around for quite so long either.

yah i never understood the idea behind having to go get bf healed b4 HAM. its like: WWII has shell shock and is shot twice and bleeding fast, better send him to a phsycyotrist first so he feels good abut himself before he dies of bloodloss..


all good ideas i would really like to see crafting times shortend as a bonus say like 10% less ?

I think the med center problem could be greatly helped by nerfing med droids a little, so that they are something like 75 Med rating. This way people who want the absoulte best in buffs and other heals will have to come in the med center to get it; right now why would you want to go through the trouble of driving to and entering a med center when you can buy a portable one for about 30k? (they are probably cheaper now) I also have an idea about functional bacta tanks in med centers but that will take a long post to outline (which I might get to someday)
